2005 mazda 2.3 motor swap

Would like to know if a 2005 mazda 3 2.3 motor is the same as a 2003 Mazda 6 2.3 motor ? Want to put the mazda 6 motor in the Mazda 3. Thank you !

Going to go out on a limb here and say no.

all the mzr motors are the same block, similar configurations. They are available in mazda 3/6, miatas, fusions, escapes, lincolns, a bunch of other cars, etc..

Variations are in sensors/electronics, camshafts, oil pans, intakes, minute things, etc... which can be swapped in between.

I'm just in middle of doing a 2.5 swap into my 06

The miata guys have these swaps figured in and out. It's too bad the mz3 community is not as active in technically modifying these cars vs just doing show with our cars. Little is done with the mz3, mostly mspeed3 guys do any kind of engine related technical work.

Well I did not know that!

But as for your last paragraph, it's probably because these are family cars, and the people who buy them have a family, or are students, who don't have that much money to do a swap.
