    Default Car collectors?

I've been collecting mainly 1:67 scale die-cast cars since the day I was born and my collection numbers over 500 including vintage brands from Corgi, Matchbox, Majorette, Siku and more. When I was a kid, I built sprawling cities to accommodate my collection in style

Obviously I don't have the room to do that anymore, so they all sit in a cupboard until I figure out a more permanent solution:

I also have a ton of 1:24 and 1:43 cars but lately I've been more into high quality 1:18 replicas.

Pride and joy of my collection: 2011 Mazda3 GT Sedan

It's a premium model from China and the detail is just stunning. Actual carpet on floorboards and trunk, bluetooth controls on steering wheel, speedo dials, actual seatbelts with buckles, soft cushion seats, etc. Crazy.

2001 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor

1962 Volkswagen Microbus Sliding Sunroof Edition

    1964 Shelby Cobra 427 S/C

    1967 Volkswagen Beetle

    2002 Ferrari Enzo

    Other replicas: Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR Street Version, 1989 Mercedes-Benz 500SL, 1992 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1, 1940 BMW 328, 1990 BMW 850i, 1993 BMW 325i

Feel free to share your own collections too!

    That is one impressive collection!

    I always wondered though....

...with such a vast collection - how do you know if there's a piece you come across, that you already have? Any duplicates?

Ive had about 8 or so 1:18 scale model cars. Most of them are in rough shape now because of them being stored in a box when i moved to bradford a few years back.
    collection included:

    1) Ford Crown Victoria Vancouver Police car.
    2) Citreon Xsara rally car ( was high quality but also very fragile..)
    3) 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee ( my first one... was pretty awesome since all doors opened compared to the standard "rear doors sealed shut " )
    4) Chevorlet Impala taxi ( found it was an open box... car didnt really have any visible damage though... got half price regardless )
    5) Chevorlet impala 65' nascar ( was a gift to me from family friend)
    6) Range Rover Sport HSE
    7) Mercedes SLK roadster
    8) Lamborghini Murcilego LP640 ( bought off my brother... lambo doors dont stay open anymore )
    9) Acura NSX tuner edition
    10) Aston Martin DB9

Also anyone else notice that alot of the big box retailers have almost given up on selling these. I know maybe costco sells them and sometimes Walmart but the selection has gone down massively. Walmart used to have a few shelfs dedicated to them. I wish there were places where they had a bigger selection ( instead of 3-4 cars) but not having to pay an insane price ( I cant justify spending $200 on a scale model car)

Use to work in an automotive hobby shop and for a long time and collected a few.

Have a few less then back then, but have:

    1/18 Scale
UT Models (now part of AutoArt) - McLaren F1, F1 LM, F1 GTR - all road varients
    Porsche 993 Turbo, GT2, GT1 - all road varients
AutoArt - BAR 99' test car, BAR 002, BAR 003, BAR 004 - all JV - missing that flipping 001 'zipper car'
    Minichamps - Ferrari F310b Schumacher
AutoArt - JGTC Nissan 350 GT500 Test Car, JGTC Nissan R34 GT500 Test Car

    1/43
Minichamps - pretty much every failed F1 team since 98' - Jag, Prost, Stewart, Minardi, Jordan Arrows, etc, etc
Ebbro - JGTC Toyota SC430 Toms Test Car, JGTC Toyota SC430 Cerumo Test Car
    Minichamps - Mercedes C11

And one or two other. I'll take pics when I'm back home.

Most of my collection accumulated through gifts so I have a few duplicates here and there. As with my hockey card collection, I don't really mind. The more the merrier

Agreed, Kyosho and AutoArt models easily run north of $200 and your best bet is to get them on ebay. I had to drop $130 on the Mazda 3 because I had been looking for a replica of my own car for a long time. It's not exact, but close enough

Also, correction: most of my cars are 1:64. Trucks and buses are usually 1:87.

Nice collection Captain! I don't really have a collection at home, but my dad and I have a very extensive Dinky toys collection. He used to play with them as a kid, so when I came along he started buying them again for me to play with (I was atypically careful with my toys, so he knew I wouldn't beat them to hell and he could buy mint condition stuff and I'd still play with it). As I grew older (late single-digits onwards) we would go to hobby fairs together and search out ones we didn't have. Eventually we bought a reference catalogue of all the variants and started marking them off for reference.

Best part was sometimes at the toy fairs he'd send me to the tables by myself with cash to try and score better deals haha.

Found the sedan, but no wagon

    More options for the 850

Good luck on the Mazda, proper 1:18 replicas of the 3 are very hard to find. Most I find are RX-7, RX-8, 787B, Miata, and Cosmo.

Found a 1:43 but it's sold out. Maybe try contacting AutoArt and see if they can track one down for you?

    That's awesome

My dad had a lot of now-antique dinkies too. Some are still in great condition and in my collection, others were either left behind in Iran or damaged by young relatives. Unfortunately my brother and I were responsible for more than a few twisted wheels in our toddler years

all pictures compete with original dust

I have been collecting Hot Wheels and building 1:24 plastic model cars since i was really young.
it started with the soap box/ pine derby car that me and my dad made for beavers. My car won every bracket, probably due to my v8

    [IMG][/IMG]

i then began buying testors model stuff and 1:24 models for cheap at zellers whenever i could. I must have made close to 50 cars and kept the better ones. These are the only ones i have kept, i always had a problem with getting glue on the windshields :/
    [IMG][/IMG]
    [IMG][/IMG]
    [IMG][/IMG]

and heres my full hotwheels collection from 2003- 2008. [IMG][/IMG]

I gave it up to buy and build my Les Paul that i fished out of a pawn shop.

No more photos but a small side story that sort of fits here.....

Last night I was reading about the new Lamborghini Huracan with my 2year old in my lap. He starts pointing in some other direction and saying "mmboh! mmboh!" so I put him on the ground to see what he's after. He makes a beeline for this 1:12 scale Gallardo that we let him play with, grabs it, and starts racing it across the floor. I realized mmboh = Lambo.

Kid knows his cars already. Start 'em young.

OP's collection is really impressive. I had a small collection of cars when I was a kid. Mostly just Lambos and Ferraris. Great job on that collection

Awesome. I think starting around 4, my parents' friends would point out any random car on the street and I would name the make and model in an instant. I have no idea how I didn't end up in an automotive career
