Same price as it was 2 years ago. I'm happy their prices haven't changed. $280 +$40 clear coat.
$320 cash and gave a Tim's card to Mike becasue he has helped me out by staying late after work this time.

    Update time.

I have got my car ready for winter.

Last weekend I used this 3M scratch removal kit to get some ugly clear coat scratches out. I also painted my emblems black @ picked up a few LED reverse bulbs from Nextmod. They are far brighter than they look in the pictures but do not turn night into day as I hoped

Friday night: I was sideswiped on avenue road @ UCC (those 2 tight turns just north of St. Clair.) headed SB. An older guy came into my lane and hit my drivers side. We pulled over and there was no claimable damage! He popped my mirror forward in the collision & put a few scratches in the clear coat. Worst of all he scuffed my drivers front RX8 rim with his tire so that will take some work to get that out.
He was fine but his mirror was completely broken. Even though he was at fault, & had totaled his passenger mirror, I had no damages so there was no reason to file an insurance claim. He was happy. I expected both doors to be crumpled from the heavy impact so I was very happy when I got out of the car right after to find.... Not much

Saturday: Jimmy & Kanny replaced my brake rotors, and pads with OEM rotors & Halk HPS brake pads. MY CAR RESLLY STOPS NOW. I have to learn not to brake as hard as i used to.

In the process, they discovered that both my lower control arms needed replacing. He was concerned about safety so I picked those up from MOT with parts discount and am going back this Friday afternoon at 4. I bumped into @Kyiomi on Saturday & talked to a mazda6 owner while I waited.

    Today:

I Switched to snow tires as my schedule looks very busy in the next few weeks. In the process I fixed one of the front mud flaps which was catching on the tire when reversing.

The Mazda6 wheels are on and I used up my ESSO points on a car wash. This is the only time these wheels will look black as They are usually white from salt.

Whew! Good to hear about the lack of damage from the sideswipe.

The reverse lights look much better. I can't stand the yellow/pale look of the OEM reverse bulbs.

Car looks good though. All blacked out ready to be whited out by winter! lol

MAF wiring harness troubles continue. 3rd times the charm. Seems to be fixed again.

I also always wanted white wheels. A few more days and they should be even better.

Also the cheap mazda3 eBay stickers shown on the calipers are very durable. They adhered to G2 caliper paint (done rather badly by myself) which is a textured surface and have withstood winter so far. Definitely worth it.

I'm having the same problem. Hoping that getting a new MAF sensor fixes my problem so I can get an Etest.

Last time was more serious where most wires snapped due to high tension. The car would idle for 3 seconds, and cut out no matter how hard you try to stop it by using the gas pedal...

It started by randomly dropping by 500 rpm cruising at about 50kph in 3rd gear. cruising at 2500rpm, drops to 2000rpm, and almost immdiately goes back up to 2500rpm. It then began doing it more often across all gears...

When the wires snapped, it sputtered, rpms going up and down until it died. The car was un-driveable. It looked like someone learning how to drive stick, lurching forward abruptly.

OK, another one of my MAF wires came out from the clip - funky idle - Un-drivable car.

I seem to have fixed it arts and crafts style.

    Wire came loose

We drilled out the middle cavity of the clip. Striped the brown (middle wire) back. Slipped the wire through the plug. Slipped an electrical shrink wrap down the wire for later. Crimped a connector to the wire. Soughered the connector and wire together. Slipped the shrink wrap over the connector, used a lighter to seal it.

I then plugged the middle wire to the intake. Slipped the rest of the plug down the wire and connected it to the intake.

Wrapped the excess wire to the harness with more electrical tape. Used silicone to seal and harden the end of the clip.

Pink zip ties bring the wiring harness closer to the Intake - less tension on the wires to the MAF.

It works, looks like arts and crafts. Car idles and runs perfectly, temporary fix till I can splice in a new MAF plug...

    Tada

Oh man yea mine is nowhere near that bad. Mines was snapped in between the ecu and plug. Wasn't inside the plug itself.

I had no clue. I thought it was a MAF sensor. Then I saw the cut and the fraying of two wires. Fixed them and now no more CEL or battery light. It's good when you figure out what is going on with your car.

Switched to summer wheels today. God there is so much grip. The Bayview extension & DVP on ramp at Bloor was so much fun this morning.

Rust update: drivers side taillight, drivers side door, drivers side rear wheel well, passenger side wheel well. I will attempt to fix some rust/ stop/ slow down the cancerous spread in the next few weeks. I have a lot of paint tutorials ect. It won't look the greatest as I will have a 1" black lip around each wheel well. Anything looks better than rust. As for the door, that will take some ingenuity.... Updates to follow if it turns out well.... Don't feel like taking pictures as it makes me sad...

    Pictures

    @asyed monster truck mode.

These are cool: my dad still has these from a tire repair kit from his first car: 1971 Datsun 510. He has used them to chalk every car since. Really cool.

Bye bye RX-8s. I'll miss you... On/off Ramps will never quite be the same.
    [Insert sad music here]

New wheels incoming. In the meantime - winters will have to do for the next week. These will be the last wheels put on the Mazda3.

Not sure what to do with the rust which is sprouting up.... Literally on every panel. Amateur low cost temp. fixes or leave it eat away. Not going to throw my own money at it into a car that's almost at 200K and not worth much.

Looking at long term options for a new (to me) car as well. Something used, just by a few years. Window shopping is fun until the $$$ amounts set in.

    Oh well

only 200k? thats a baby. I got my 04 in 2011 at 110k and it had bad rust on the driver rear fender. Got it fixed and in the last year it's started to get bad again. I'm currently at about 260k. I think i'm willing to spend about $100 or so tops to fix it since i can see this car lasting another couple years or so

    Update:

My Clutch is slipping quite noticeable now under all driving circumstances. I have an appointment with Jimmy in a few weeks to discuss the clutch + oil change + fix the trunk latch which wont open ATM.

    Initial Research -

OEM replacement from MOT - $650.00 before discount

OEM Flywheel - $220.00 before discount (worst case scenario planning. Will ask about machining as an option too)

I am looking at an OEM replacement - don't need anything performance oriented as it would be a waste of $

Looking at the Exedy OE Replacement Clutch now and open to other options

Chime in with any advice/ suggestions. Any appreciated.

I just don't understand why Mazda won't sell a kit! Why do they have to sell their clutch parts separately? Just Dumb!...Anyway Exedy or LuK are both good options and I think the LuK is slightly cheaper. Machining will probably cost you $80-100 and extend the time its on the hoist. I'm in almost the same situation only my clutch is not slipping too bad yet. Gonna try to baby it too 300k with it. ...Anyway I'm going with LuK and a new flywheel in my case, about $420 all together before tax.

I think I'll get a new flywheel as well. May as well whike it's up there.

200K on the original clutch. Im Not the original owner and the lady before me wasn't nice to it at all.

    I'll check those out. Thanks.

New clutch in. Car drives better than it ever has. Driving is fun again.

The clutch is really light, lighter than I remember.

    Pictures of old clutch:

The bearing was completely seized and flywheel was more or less toast.

Had to replace this ball joint as well. It was not seated properly and grinding down the side of the metal.
