    Default Cottage Rentals

The in-laws will be coming to Toronto for a visit and my wife and I thought it would be fun to rent a cottage for a couple of days in late August. So I turn to those that rent or own cottages for some advice on websites etc.
A few of things I am looking:
    1) a cottage north of Toronto
    2) edit: by the lake: any lake recommendations?
    3) accommodates 4 adults plus a 2 year old
    4) has boats/canoes and/or paddle boats.

Additionally my father in law likes fishing. Is it easy to get fishing licenses for people outside of Canada?

You can buy a fishing license at many Canadian Tire stores, BassPro in Vaughan, many bait shops, or online ( http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/en/Business...02_164832.html )

I didn't know you could buy them at those stores in person. I'll try Bass Pro.

For fishing licenses - he can get a day pass for about$10

And IIRC - he won't need one if he's older than 65

Summer cottage rentals are for a week stretch - no weekend warrior rentals are available

And you'll need a PWC license for any motorized boat.

    i use http://www.cottagesincanada.com/cottage-rentals/ontario
been using it for the last 3 years with no problems.

I would advise trying to book asap, as all the good cottages are booked by now. I booked my June cottage in January, just in time too...(I got a weekend booking)

Weekend bookings are harder to come by later in the season because they are all booked up early

But look around with that website, goodluck!

Yes he's older than 65. Nice. Hopefully that's true so he doesn't land in jail. Haha.

Yeah, been looking for a cottage for friends but not many can get the whole week off. Depending on cottage, generally peak season (minimum one week Saturday to Saturday) is June-July-August or July-August.

We may end up doing it in May and hope for warm weather.

Did a weekend last July on Wilbermere Lake (somewhere near Haliburton IIRC) booked maybe a week or two beforehand. Yeah, commonly cottages are rented weekly, but if you poke around you'll find weekend rentals too. I could put you in touch with the guy who managed that cottage if you'd like. He manages like 20-30 properties or something.

Was at a cottage place (5-6 cottages) a couple years back in gravenhearst. Was a really nice place minus the camp across the lake but it have a good summer feel so it was nice there was a drive in on the other side of graven Hearst I went to as well so I went to that one night and was great summer thing to do
