RUMOURS....there is nothing even remotely true or official, it's just more wishful thinking.
- 2021 Porsche Macan GTS -
- 2016 Lexus NX200t F Sport -
- 2010 Mazdaspeed 3 Black Mica - SOLD -
automatic speed 3? oh no

my main concern is the high compression and turbo bit...not sure how those two together will hold up
Meh, keep it FWD. AWD will just add $8k and it still won't touch the STi. Better off going against the GTI and Focus ST.
It obviously would never happen but I'd love to see the MS3 stay FWD and then add another tier above (say MS3-R) with AWD.

The sti is a piece of shit when it comes to the interior. I figured that's where you spend all your time so it might as well be decent. Subaru lacks in that department. Not sure what you mean by still won't touch an STI?
Anyway these articles are wishful thinking right now. Also the other article, also from Australia, that was posted in the random ms3 chat thread did have torque numbers
Edit: nope I was wrong. Other article had current model tq numbers

Like I mentioned elsewhere if they brought out an awd version I would upgrade as my next vehicle, if not probably won't stick with a mazda next
Personally speaking I think the 3rd gen speed with Mazda's skydrive will be great and smart move on Mazda's part, Just like Subaru did with their new WRX offering two trans to appeal to more consumers but unlike subbie, no CVT with Mazda only their crisp shifting skydrive trans. No way Mazda would produce speed without manual trans (that's blasphemy) but to stay current and competitive offering two trans is just smart. Also given the fact that the new skydrive trans shifts like a dual clutch, produces good fuel economy numbers and its not a CVT....just saying folks don't sleep on Mazda's new sky technology. Here's some food for thought 2016 Mazdaspeed 3 AWD 295HP/296lbs 6speed manual or 6speed skydrive running on regular grade gas......I'd be trading my 14 in a heart beat.
Varrstoen ES2, PIAA, K&N, H&R, Corksport, Kodostyle
Even if that was to come true ... I doubt it would be on regular grade (87oct) gas. Mazda would tune it and insist on 91oct.
Wow this thread makes me regret posting a rumour. I thought someone else might be excited or interested in any news/rumours about the next gen Speed3 like me, but some of you people are just miserable.
And for the record my wife would love an auto Speed3. While I am a firm supporter of manuals, I'd be very happy for my wife to have an auto Speed3.
Don't you know a lot of guys have some sort of Freudian thing with their cars and their "mr happy" down there?
I like the manual when the road's open but I am just as happy with an auto when there are stupid people about in stop and go traffic.
Some of the higher end cars I have been looking (way way into the future of course) are auto only now a days. It might be that my next car's an auto. Really depends on where things are in another 5 years or so when it's time to replace?
I doubt the rumor is worth much. Some sites makes them up to drum up traffic.
A true DCT option a la GTi, and still offering the manual, would be awesome.

There are sometimes I would mind a DCT, but more in relation to the torque steer the car has under power. With AWD it's eliminated, so a little more partial to having the stick remain + rev matching a stick is mucho rewarding.
Just have to talk the wife into me getting it when it comes out.

AWD adds $2000 to the CX5.....I think.
