Exclamation ANDROID TV BOX - FREE TV! - Anyone Have One?

    Hi,

Does anyone have an Android TV Box (a cracked box)? How is it? Any reviews? Below is a link to what I am talking about. There are other models out there, but this is to give an idea.

You just pay for the box, connect to your internet, and away you go. No more cable bills! I am questioning the quality, consistent stream, ease of use, if reprogramming is required, and automatic updates (I believe some of the boxes do this on their own)

    Look at reviews for XBMC.
All the box is, is a simple media player with XBMC installed (Its a free download)

    Ohhh, I see.

I am curious about the Live TV (eg CNN, NBC), and the quality of the content.

You can stream live content? Get HD channels and it's actually good? I've seen it but always been skeptical.

Thats what I was thinking, but I am curious to see if anyone has purchased on, or programmed their own, and will provide feedback based on that

This box just skips the DL process of getting video from the internet.

I use this every day. That box posted is pretty shitty tho (looks dual core). You can get them off ebay quad core for cheaper and "Program them" yourself. 65$ http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Quad-Core-And...44a7406&_uhb=1

By programming all i mean is downloading xbmc and installing the channels (add-on's) you want.

This plugin lets you find everything you need http://superrepo.org/

Go on best buy.ca and look for boxeebox. You can download a repository for this linked to the xmbc and there is live TV and a shit ton of movies in HD its all user content so there is list upon list of everything. Imagine access to every episode of every show at anytime plus new movies . I got rid of cable because of this. Best investment cutting cable

I did some research on this, and not too many ppl are happy with the box, but these were based on when it first came out. Have u experienced any issues? Also, what site do you get the repositories from? There a so many lol

I have an Android box (Minix x7) but I don't use XBMC. I just use it to play videos from a harddrive. I found that most of the movie links are gone and not playable. It takes a long time to find something that is still working. I haven't tried TV (CBC, etc) because I'm not sure how to add the add-on.

I would suggest installing XBMC on your computer and give it a try. If you like it then the set up will be the same on an Android box.
