Referring to the one or 2 comments on the thread about trucks should be used for truck stuff. Anyways it doesn't matter. I'm having fun with it

What's to be confused about. I'm 45 if I want a car to perform I will get one and go race it on a track. For daily use I want a good performing vehicle that is safe and can carry my kids and wife and myself around in comfort. The kid in me can have the other anytime I want

It is actually what is called a bedrug. It looks and feels like carpet but it's shredded rubber. You can haul gravel and dirt then just hose out and carry your luggage or bags. It doesn't scratch your bed and makes it look very clean.

Also let's look at your statement. The mazdaspeed 3 is not the be all end all of vehicles. Sure it may out perform the truck after I soaked all that money into it but a stock maZdaspeed3 is not that much better in a 1/4 mile. 1.3 seconds. So for a vehicle that weighs so much more and has so much more comforts does it really. And then when you compare it to a regular 3 cause hey why not since you are comparing apples to apples obviously the truck out perfoms a regular 3 hands down. To make a statement like you did just doesn't make any sense and is kinda closed minded because if you think I sold my car cause I thought I was going to buy a truck and say it would out perform my speed which I just soaked a ton of money makes absolutely no sense. You might as well say why did you sell your speed and by a lama to ride around on. Remember a true car enthusiasts loves all cars for different reasons and has different reasons for buying each vehicle. Sure I talk about doing stuff to the truck. But why wouldn't i. I am not looking to make a 8sec truck. I am looking to add some performance additives to make it better than what it is. As you can tell I take a bit of offence to your comment. But it's more because of the close minded attitudes of some that think the mazdaspeed3 is the be all end all.

You didn't soak that much money into the speed3

Sounds like you're gonna go down the same route with this truck

Only real power mods in the speed3 were the downpipe, tmic and intake

Everything else allowed the car to unlock the power, such as an AP and the fuel pump internals

But let's just leave it at the simple fact that we mod our cars for fun because any other explanation really doesn't make any sense

Also it's a mazda forum so mazda bias is expected

Go on a Ford F150 forum and start talking constantly about your speed3 and I'm sure that'll go over well

Hey man I love trucks. I'm in the market for one myself. I even looked at a reg cab short box ecoboost, but then I got to thinking.. It would never replace my speed in any aspect other then size and comfort. (Perhaps you're a size and comfort guy) It would have cost me 3x as much to make the ecoboost perform like my Speed, including in the 1/4 mile.

You said you're a performance and handling guy. That's cool, all I'm saying is you won't get the performance and handling out of that truck that you will with the speed 3 for less then 3x the cost. That's why I was confused.

I agree loki that it is a Mazda forum. My point is make legitimate comparisons. You can't compare a truck to a speed that's just ridiculous. Trust me when I say I am bias to mazda as well. I also own a 2014 6 have owned speed 6 sport 6 wagon and a mazda 5. So I know all about being bias. But again the real enthusiast will enjoy cars for what they are. They will also compare apples to apples not apples to cucumbers that's all I am saying

You forgot the ecoboost will out perform the speed in a 1/4 mile towing a boat lol

EcoBeast can tow the MS3 to the track LOL

I sold my MZ3 for an SUV because in all honesty, having kids and being a weekend warrior (outside of car-related things) is difficult with such a small vehicle.

Especially a vehicle that you care so much about. I would never load X-cubic yards of soil in the hatch of of my MZ3 - but wouldn't think twice about it if I had a pickup..

Or family long hauls to New York in a lowered MZ3 - I would consider renting a car. No issues taking my GMC.

I too am at that point where I may want to tow a boat or a camper. Perhaps i need to buy a new 80" TV, or furniture for the house. I may need to haul lumber or sod and gravel on any given weekend. Who knows? But the point is - the Mazda has limited capabilities for my needs.

If I need to buy a new 80 inch TV then I will have that delivered, if I can afford the tv I can afford the delivery. Or use my wife's autoshare to get the cargo van, for $10

In the meantime I drive the car I like
