    Default Purchased My First Mazda

Figured I'd make my first post here. Just bought a new Dark Blue 2014 Mazda 3 GT a couple days ago and I love it. Came across this forum while I was doing a bit of searching about rust protection and liked all the info I found on here. She already needs a wash, but I love the colour. I'll have to post some pics up, but I haven't made any mods to it yet. Plan on rust proofing first (likely Krown), get the windows tinted, some nice floormats that are good for the winter, and finally some winter tires. Also looked at a SRI but need to do more research on those before I take a plunge on one of those.

    congrats and welcome!
I'm new too. Just got my Sport GS last week.

I had preordered mats before I took possession.
Will be doing PPF & Tinting in the next two weeks and then Corossion Free in early-mid October

Thanks for the welcome, and congrats on your purchase as well! I was looking at the GS initially, but I luckily had a good down-payment ready for financing at 0.99%, as well as I got a bit of a discount through my work. I wish I had stumbled across the forums beforehand as I would have likely went with a specific dealer, but while the person I dealt with wasn't amazing, they were still easy to work with.

I'm browsing floor mats right now. I was hoping that findway had soemthing as they look like great mats, but no such luck. I guess it's down to Maxpider and WEatherTech....trying to decide if Maxpider will hold up well in the winter.

Soory for my noobness, but what do you mean by PPF?

Thanks! Is there a big reason why you would choose the one over the other? I don't mind spending the extra cash if it is a superior product.

Thanks! not quite "Day One" but it will be close enough hopefully hahaha. Looking to have it done tomorrow or Tuesday. I settled on taking it to a Krown for the rustproofing. Should I have any concerns with them drilling holes for this?

Looking at the material that findway uses, it looks as if it would be difficult to clean... even though they claim that it easy to do so. After watching the video, they suggest to clean by power washer. Ultimately the decision is yours, but weatherTechs have been tried & tested by many members.

Congrats on the purchase and nice choice of colours, saw one the other day looks nice in blue.

Don't worry about the drilling. The holes are small and will not cause any issues. Had mine done at Krown over 9 years ago, holes and all, and she's still completely rust free....Don't hesitate get her done asap.

Thanks for the welcome and the assurance on the drilling. I have driven beaters and older vehicles up to this point. Last car that had a master cylinder fail and some power steering issues was my 1999 Toyota Avalon XLS. It was fully loaded though and fun to drive, not worth the repairs though. So a couple days later and a few test drives I made the choice to jump into a Mazda 3 GT. Love it so far, and I am REALLY happy with the colour!

Yeah I am looking at both. Another user mentioned to get the weathertechs and I was hoping someone could let me know if I would notice any sort of difference between the two brands as far as protecting the floor of my car from the harshness of a Toronto winter (salt, snow, water). I certainly like the price better for the Maxpider, but I'm not afraid to spend the cash on the weathertech if it's a wiser purchase. Being that both are black, the looks don't really matter.

    And thanks for the welcome!

Only issue with drilling I have had is the little plastic caps have gone missing in a few places. I just asked for a bunch of spares during last years spray. The Canadian tire collision repair plugs work great as well.

I have the Maxpiders - price was an issue for me as I wanted the other things done on my car. Can't really say anything about the quality until winter season is here.

    PPF - paint protection film...
one of the sponsors here @AudioHeaven is having a deal right now...so i'm looking at getting it done there.

Thanks for the info, i'll see if I can snag some spares from whatever Krown I head too.

Ah alright. I'm definately looking into that too....probably will have to wait until after I get the winter tires sorted out. I don't want to get stuck scrambling for some if we get an early winter.

I have the weathertechs for my Gen1 so I don't know if the comparison will be fair since it might have improved for the newer models. Here are the differences for me...

    Weathertechs
-harder, stiffer material (not necessarily a bad thing)
-loose fitting especially on the passenger side. It slides around a lot and I find that there are certain spots where the mats just don't conform well, leaving gaps
-does not cover the dead pedal enough
-can get pretty slippery when wet
    -cost more

    Maxpiders
    -softer, more flexible material
-has a carbon fiber look which is a win over the weathertechs for me
    -cheaper
-grippy material on the underside so mats don't slide at all
    -fits perfectly

I had the choice of white vs blue, I went with the blue though because I would have to shelled out more cash for the tech package which I didn't really care for. The blue and white colour are both favourites of mine.

I was just bout to book with the Krown on St. Claire in York as they atleast had a couple good google reviews. I never noticed the Lakeshore one though and seems like a few members recommend that one instead. I'll see if they can get me in today!

So the weather techs will slide around even with the anchor points?

@ooltra well for the Gen1, there were no anchor points for the passenger side. I was making more of a point that, for the price of these premium mats, I expected them to fit a lot more snug than it did. So that was one of the big disappointment. Also it only covers half(edit) of my foot on the dead pedal so that was a let down as well. The Maxpiders covered all of it so I can rest my foot there without dirtying the carpet.

@Cyclic ahhh got it. So the slipping probably would be an issue for me then. I also like the look of the Maxpider more as well.
