Default Mazdaedit - "open-source" tuning knowledge meet

    Hey guys/gals.

This is a gauging interest thread which will turn into a mazdaedit meet if there is enough interest. I am hoping to give back to
this local community in a small way by sharing my experience and knowledge, fails and success's of using mazdaedit over the past year while figuring it out with the help of Matt,
Brian at Aph, and other members. (one of my new years resolutions, give back to community, check)

    What is Mazdaedit?
Tuning software akin to a Cobb ATR version 1 but for N/A vehicles with little to no backing/understanding.

I have been approached by a few
members inquiring about how mazdaedit works, where to get it, who should tune me, help me understand it etc... (heres your opportunity guys) Many choose not to buy it because knowledge is
limited on how to use it properly. you are forced to either go with Matt at Ovtune, or (dynotronics<--- who by the way has no clue of what hes
doing and will most likely damage your engine, imo), or go to a local tuner and spend money/ personal time on a dyno and the street to figure out the maps.
Instead of doing one on one help, its easier and takes up less of yours and my time if we just have a nice small
meet to share knowldge and ideas. I would like this to be an "open-source" local tuning meet to help lessen the steep
learning curve of understanding mazdaedit and its uses. Matt was gonna make an online seminar on how to fully utilize mazdaedit, but it looks like it fell to the wasteside since dynotronics
started to get bad reviews and all skyactiv business has gone to Matt.
If you have already bought an intake, header, or exhaust, this will be worth your time and money to get since gains/performance have been proven to be better than all of those combined n/a. imo, it should
be your first performance mod. No, you will not gain 100hp/100tq. If you want that much more power, "get a speed".
You will gain knowledge and experience about how your car works and how to make its settings optimal for both performance and reliability.

    So. what do you need?
you will need a tactrix cable and a license/base map from epifan, and yourselves.
it is preferred that you already have these items and have them setup for your car and laptop.
dont have these yet, no worries, tag along if you plan on purchasing mazdaedit in the future.

What i will try and cover.
-Datalogging (how to set it up, how to use it, personal outlay, utilizing data to make changes)
-Flashing, uploading new maps, reading the ecu.
-Map definitions (aka, what they do).
-vvti, igntion timing, fueling/afr, engine load, maf calibration, throttle response, idle, open-closed loop thresholds, rev/speed limiter, egr valve tables, knock retard, torque request
map, base torque map, CEL code reading/clearing.
-Tuning theories and basics to help you understand what your changing.

You can then use this knowledge to either tune yourself, help others understand, or explain to your own local tuner how the maps work so he/she can tune your car properly on the dyno, instead of spending money and time figuring out which maps work. note: you can only find the optimal/most efficient settings on a dyno. again, for the 2.5l non-skyactiv owners, this will be covered.
Understand that there are inherent risks of changing engine definitions. I take no responsibilty of damage you may do to your own vehicle.
I am by no means a "pro-tuner", this is more of a "how to".

Location and Date: To Be Determined on interest, but expect it to be in the GTA.
    Admission: Free
    Duration: however long it takes.

If you put your name down, please be 100% sure lol.
    1.
    2.
    3.

    Cheers,
    Justin

I can't afford to drop the money on a Tactrix cable, but depending on date and location, I might come for edutainment purposes. This seems like it could be good to know down the road.

    Great idea Justin.

Can you do this over Skype so I can participate too? Haha. I wanna change up my tune this summer, might be hitting you up for some help

Definitely sounds like a great little meet, and Justin knows quite a bit, so whichever noobs are in this position, should definitely take advantage of this!

you both were on the forum today, so no excuses for not responding lol.

anyway, a tentative date and location has been set and those who have shown interest will receive the info.
NOTE: this "meet" will remain open to sign up and attend until the actual day.- again, preferred if you have or intend to use mazdaedit as a tuning solution.
