Default WhiterThanChalk's Not Very White 04 GT Sedan

Hey guys, fairly new here but thought I'd make one of these just to start it up. She's an 04 Black (Mica) Mazda 3 GT Sedan, got the keys August 2014. Have lots of different ideas and things I wanna do. As well, if you guys have any input I'd love to hear it. Might post up questions for your opinions every now and then too as many of you have quite the bit of experience.

    Current Mods:
    - Rally Armour UR Mudflaps (Black w/ White Logo)
    - Window Tint
    - Window Visor things
    - LED Interior Lights

    Waiting to go on:
    - Evil M Emblem
    - Shark Fin Antennae (Black)

    Down the Road:
    - OEM Spoiler
    - HID's + Colour changing Angel Eyes
    - Painted Brake Callipers
    - Coloured Lug Nuts
    - Jazzed up Rims (Painted / Dipped / New)
    - TM3 License Plate Covers
    - GTA Car Kits Aux Cord
    - New taillights (don't like current ones)
    - Front Lip (maybe)

My general idea in my head is a kind of Rally look. A little bulky and then the mud-flaps, if I could put a light-bar without it looking ridiculous I'd throw one on too.

First question, which I've pondered for some time now, is colour scheme. Interior is black and red, but the few options I've considered are below, would love to hear some feedback and your opinions.

Option 1: Black w/ red accents
Includes: Black rims, red callipers, red emblems, red lettering on mud flaps
    (Plasti dip red)

Option 2: Black w/ blood red accents
Includes: 'Blood red' rims, black callipers, blood red emblems, blacked out reflectors, red lettering on mud flaps
(Metal spray paint red, an attempt to get a deeper blood red colour)

Option 3: Black w/ green accents
Includes: Black rims, green callipers, green emblems, blacked out reflectors
(Neon / Blaze Green Plasti dip)
I never understood why people put so much money into their cars...and then I finally bought one.

Can't decide between Red, Black, or Blaze Green rims. Any input from other cars or just personal preferences, what might look best?

I'm a fan of green wheels. If you decided to do a dark scheme over all then had green wheels to just set the car off. I wanted green but found it didn't look as nice on the white car. Which is why I went blue

So it's been a little while and a few things have happened. Gave her a little clean and thought i'd show off what i've done. Still more to come (stubby, smoked license plate cover, etc) but for now that's how she's sitting.

Not sure why the photos won't work, if anyone has any advice to help that'd be great. Used Photobucket. :/

Opinions on installing either a lip spoiler, OEM spoiler, or just leaving it how it is? Originally always wanted the OEM spoiler, but not sure anymore. Above picture for a view of the back. ^

I would leave it as it is. Your car looks really clean and IMO the spoiler ruins the trunk line on the sedan.

i agree with leaving it how it is. although since you've arleady been blacking out a lot of it, have you considered tinting your tail lights and the fender turn signals? even a minor one will help dull the orange

I've considered it, just not sure how easy it is to vinyl as I'd rather that then NS spray it. But yeah, the tail lights have always frustrated me, same with the reflectors.

You have to take the bumper off. I think the inner ones had a screw holding them in from the inside of the bumper where the side reflectors pop out somehow. I did it 2 years ago. Wasnt that fun

I think I have a pair of 4 rear reflectors in my spare parts. I can double check tomorrow and you're welcome to have them for tinting if you like.

You can always dip the reflectors and if you want to see how the smoke tails look you can put two or three really light coats of plastidip and see how you like them from there! I love the black and red colour scheme that's what I've been doing! Heres an idea to help your decision on what colour to choose!

Vinyling the tails was really easy since theirs no hard edges (gen 2 tails were a pain). I popped the lights out, brought them inside, washed them and wrapped them in the living room while eating breakfast and watching TV. My wife held her blow dryer for me.
The turn signals on the side are really easy since they're so small. I used the left over bits from the tail lights because they were pre-cut and there was enough excess on the sheet.

Considering trying to upgrade to a 2010+ Mazda 3 GT (sedan or hatch, not picky), anything to look for (common issues, avg prices, etc) or any opinions on if its worth the upgrade or not?

Depends on your age, im keeping my 2010 GT till i get 25. for insurance reasons mostly. If your 25 look into the MK7 GTI or golf R. If i was buying in 2016 i would buy one.
