    Default Advice on seat cleaning

So my seats (no leather) are getting a bit dirty and was wondering if anyone has any advice on how to clean them properly. I read somewhere that there could be some kind of shampoo that you can sponge with on the seats. Anyone know anything about it or any other safe alternate methods?

I also thought about taking my car to a shop to have them specially do interior cleaning but not sure if that's worth it when I could do it myself.

A pro will do it faster than you and 90% will do it better. Check out forum sponsor detailers, both do great work.

Doing it yourself, a shampoo is probably the go to solution. If you have access to a steam cleaner with upholstery attachments, that'll make the job pretty quick.

Yes. Get a pro like Bryan. He has a special on right now at an amazing price. I usually don't see him posting interior cleanups with an exterior wash so this is a good deal.

If you do it yourself, you could rent a steam cleaner or buy a Bissel green machine. You could do a decent job if you buy some detailing products.

Always is better to get pro. Pay and you're done deal. To DIY is longer process, and you will not do it right.

This is true...I accidently squirted sunscreen lotion on my seat once and was a headache to clean it, let the pro's take care.

Have you cleaned it? Or you at the end went to a professional?

As a car enthusiast on a budget (or spending too much on parts instead) haha I just use some hot water mixed with a lil bit of laundry detergent. Think about it....gets your clothes clean and smells great. Just scrubbed my Mazda3 floors with it. Used a microfiber cloth and a little scrubby brush for the salt. Just don't over do it. Scrub clean then go back with a clean wet rag, then a dry one. Leave the windows cracked to air it out & dry it out. If you got a shop vac then have at er to dry it up.

Whatever you do....just make sure the windows are down while drying or else it'll get the stink.

    I have this: http://canada.bissell.com/spotclean-...ep-reach-5207y

The tank is a little small, I need to do lots of refilling, but gets the job done for me.

The vacuum power is low, so I use a shop vac to go over the spot right after.

    Usually

    - spray the area with Resolve, leave for a few mins
    - use some sort of carpet solution mixed in with the tank and go over the spot
    - use a brush to brush the area to get tough stains out
    - fill wet vac with just water to "rinse" out stuff
    - go over spot with shop vac

A good degreaser and a shampooer will work wonders. You just need to be careful because some are harsher than others and will ruin fabric. If you're not totally confident, definitely pay to have it done. It's not expensive, and highly worth it.

Leather seats, just use a leather cleaner AND conditioner .... always condition your leather because if you don't, it'll dry out and crack.
