I haven't worked on many of them, but I am fairly certain Mazda did what they have before. We have been able to switch led tails into our cars forever. Only problem I see with it would be the continuation of the LED into the trunk lights. Not sure if the cars come prewired with that already.

The upgrade is going to pretty expensive given the models are fairly new.

If you don't like the GS lights then seriously consider a GT off the bat. It's all about costs when it comes to making the cars. They are going to sell way more GS models over the GT's and each cost per unit adds up over the production run.

Plus, GT(Grand Tour) is just that. Grand features with a Grand price.

The swap is possible but as stated, you will need grand pockets to pay for it.

It's $475 PER tail light. Unless you find some used but being this new im sure its slim pickings.

As everyone has mentioned, the swap is definitely possible.... it's just the matter of trying to find a used set unless you are willing to pay dealership prices for new one's. As the models are relatively new, a lot of mods will be higher than normal at this point.

Besides a Mazda dealership where could I buy brand new OEM LED GT headlights and taillights?

Default Re: Mazda 2015 GS to GT tail lights

I've been able to locate the GT tail lights for a little cheaper but i have run across an issue. The GS doesn't have any night-time running lights on the inner set of tail lights (the ones on the trunk). Therefore the GS only has one connector there (for the reverse lights) whereas the GT tail lights require two connectors there (one for the reverse lights and one for the night-time running lights). Any idea if its possible to splice a connector from some other set of wires in the back?

    I have a hatch BTW.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It may just need the wiring for the hatch, it is probably prewired into the system to the hatch, but it was never put in the hatch because of the spec of the car.

you should be able to buy the gt lights and fit them. on both our 2010 sedans and hatch we made the switch up to gt / speed 3 led tails. they were plug and play and had no issues.

the hatch or trunk lights are not plug and play... there's additional wiring not there on the GX and GS for the hatch/trunk tail light... on the GX and GS, the hatch/trunk lights are for reverse only, but on the GT, there's also a lighted LED strip... running the wires or swapping the harness is a must
