    Default Brokerage C.O.D. Fee $106?

So I ordered road magnet springs because a lot of you guys on here recommended them. I was charged $260 plus $20 for shipping and handling. I just received the package from UPS Today and it has a brokerage COD FEE of $106. Anyone know what this fee is for? Road magnet website never let me know about this fee..

UPS that is your issues. The breakdown is likely $40 Tax, plus $66 UPS brokerage fee.

Anything big or heavy expect a big CoD fee if shipped with UPS or FedEx.... Always have stuff shipped from the states through USPS.

Even small packages. The problem is, it's in their shipping agreement fine print, which most U.S. sellers are unaware of but accept by sending UPS, and then it's left to the buyer to pick up once it arrives. Quite the legal scam.

That's the other thing. Have to check wherever possible that the seller isn't using UPS or FedEx.

USPS is the best way to ship most items.

It's UPS ground that is the problem. The other flavours of UPS won't leave you paying insane COD charges. But as already noted, USPS is the way to go... worst case Canada Post charges you for taxes and duty plus a 5$ handling fee.

BTW, RockAuto is a good source for parts from the US as their shipping is pretty reasonable, and includes brokeaage etc. so there are no extra fees.

But nobody ships with UPS air/express because it's bloody expensive.

+1 on this.......if you ship UPS Ground, they get you through the brokerage charges (entry & manifest prep....etc.) - there usually is none when you go above Ground service, say Express or Overnight.

Even if a web site doesn't list USPS (United States Postal Service), contact them and ask specifically for this option for yourself.

UPS Ground is a scam. UPS Overnight or Air, you pay huge fees because... it's overnight. At the end you can't win, unless you opt for USPS.

You can also use your own customs broker or do the paperwork yourself, and save a lot of money.
