Default resistor ohm, led switchback turn signal

hi guys, little question would like to know difference between resistor 50w 6ohm and 50w 8ohm... im just installing my led switchback turn signal and i have both resistor set 50w : 6ohm or 8ohm... what's the difference between 6 or 8 ohm... and wich one is the good one to install... 6ohm or 8ohm... ? thanks a lot for your time and help... have ncie day.

The higher the numerical value of ohms (resistance), the less current will be allowed to flow in a circuit as well as a higher voltage will be 'dropped' by the resistor. Ohm's law states that Voltage = (Current)x(Resistance). For now, I'd start with the 8ohm to minimize current. If it works, cool, if not then the circuit will require the 6ohm.

Generally, you need to use one 3ohm resistor for each LED bulb you install on one side of the car. You use 6ohms when you use LEDs both front and back, because then there is even lower resistance in the circuit on each side.

Since you only have the 6 ohm option, I'd go with that. It's not about protecting the LEDs, it's about providing resistance to the electrical circuit so the car thinks halogen bulbs are still installed.

When I bought my switchbacks it came with 6ohm resistors. I just installed those.
