Default Rust Forming Ontop of Side Skirt

Small rust is forming on my factory side shirt, where the bottom part of my door covers it (front and back). I have seen many older Mazda 3's have rust lines coming from these areas below the doors which concerns me.

I have a 2012 Mazda 3 and I would like to nip this in the butt before it gets worse. However, I do not have much experience with body work and am looking for any suggestions or opinions on the topic.

So if anyone has an older model Mazda 3 who has addressed this problem I would greatly appreciate your input, thanks

From what you're posting there seems to be a bit of confusion so pictures would likely clear that up and then people can help you

Skirts are plastic, rocker panels are metal, you're a service advisor......you should know that.

Skirt = Rocker Cover but it is certainly plastic.

I don't know what trim you have but there's a chance you don't have a skirt and your rocker is rusting.

Yeah the side skirts can't rust. It sounds like you're describing the lower rocker panels under the doors, and there are no side skirts. Hence all the confusion.

    Hey @MK519

If you would like to bring the car by we can definitely take a look and determine what has to be done to resolve the issue.

    Thanks,

if its on the skirt itself, most likely rail dust lol. If its underneath on the pinch welds, well can't help you there.

Really @Darkstar....if you want help from TM3 members then maybe you should reconsider they way you've ended your posts....especially since you are only 9 deep and I doubt many of us know what your sense of humour is like..."what a joke" and "unreal" I'm sure has actually turned people away from answering you...

So where are these pics? I'm curious to see the only non-plastic Mazda 3 skirt in existence...

Also...did I read somewhere you are a Service Advisor.....

Ok let's turn down the heat a bit (on both sides). Like I said, I think it's confusion over terminology. You'd think we were getting winter cabin fever in here....

The sills are easy to rub if you're careless like my wife and daughter. I have the nice mazda3 sill protectors but am so paranoid I've left the plastic protective covering on the lettering for the time being. Lol.

You got it. Sorry for the misunderstanding on the terminology; nevertheless, it's starting to show rust cracks from front to back, all the way along on both sides.

Like I mentioned before I have seen older model Mazda 3's rolling around with rust lines coming from under the doors and don't want that to happen to mine. Just looking to see if anyone else has tackled this problem and what kind of success they had doing it themselves.

Sorry for the confusion again all
