Default 1gen 2.3 hatch and engine isn't looking too good - engine swap shop recommendations

I've taken her to a couple mechanics and all have told me that I'm better off buying a new car or swapping the engine rather than repairing the problem(something to do with the piston) haven't taken her to get really looked at. They just listened to the noise she makes when I accelerate and have an RPM higher than 3000.

So I looked at some forums and a couple people swapped it for a 2.5 and works. But I'm here to ask a question that has probably been ask a few times in the past but here goes nothing.(a couple people probably already know where I'm going with this)

Is it possible that a I can swap it for a mazdaSpeed3 engine? And if so will it work? Do you know of anyone that has done it?

If I need a new motor might as well right?
    Go BIG or go home.

    Just a thought.

    Cheers guys 🍻

No you can not just swap in the mazdspeed engine. You need a few more parts, ECU, Intercooler, engine management solution just to name a few.

I should of been more specific about that but yeah al changing the tranny, mounts and such. But it is possible? Everything does fit?

Fit yes. But I am trying to tell you, you need many many more parts than the engine and transmission.

I would not recommend going this route.

Put in the correct engine, then sell and buy a MS3. You'll save yourself lots of money, time and relationships.

Why spend all the time/money on the MS3 motor. It would be far cheaper long run to just buy one.

Swap in a 2.0 or a 2.3L (I'd say a 2.3L since thats what it had), and drive it or sell it. Jimmy at Street Performance has done a few swaps for guys on this forum. Don't quote me, but $800ish for labour on a swap rings a bell.

This guy in Quebec will charge you $1,250 for 2.0L installed or $1,750 for a 2.5L installed. http://www.kijiji.ca/v-engines-and-e...ationFlag=true

$1750 installed for a 2.5 sounds like the route to go. I'll likely do this to the wifes if it ever dies.

Jimmy was set to charge me $3,000 for the 2.3 engine and installation. I ended up just getting a cx-5...$1,750 is an absolute steal for a 2.5 engine
