Default Dealers that just want to close the deal at any cost!

Recently we went to a dealer to look for a 2015 Mazda3 gx. After spending a good 3-4 hours - we struck a deal for a lease, decided to go with the color blue which the sales rep confirmed available - even showed us the car. Since they didnt have demos we test drove the blue mazda that we wanted to purchase. Since it was thanksgiving weekend - we had to come back on Tuesday to sign the papers.

So when we came yesterday to sign the papers - we were told by the GM that the sales rep had made a mistake and that the car we test drove and committed was already sold. We have options to choose black/grey but told blue is not available and blue is what we wanted.

Second false commitment was delivery. Told the car if available would have been delivered by Wednesday - but again - wrong information - told that was not possible.

A reason to walk away from the deal? - such ridiculous mistakes and time waste - we walked out.

That happens a lot. You'll call about a vehicle on the website, they'll say yep, it's here, come on down. You'll get there, it's suddenly sold, and has been for days, or its not even on the lot, but they'll try to sell you something different because you're there. Bait and switch.

Tell them to get a blue one from another dealership at no cost to you.

What it boils down to in these situations is the sales rep knowing their stuff and communicating effectively to manage expectations. We are human and do make mistakes, but at this point in the year where inventory is limited I personally don't like making promises. It could be he totally goofed on that one.
Generally if the vehicle is not in stock we ask for 3 colours and do our very best to obtain the first choice. If for whatever reason it is not, we communicate that to the client. The process to obtain from another dealer generally takes a week or two and there are no guarantees. Once they are gone. That's it.
You may have more luck with a hatch. We have 3 GX models in stock in Auto. One is blue and it'll only be $10-15 more on your lease payment.
