What do you use to polish your wheels (2011 Mazda 3 GX)

Hey,

I have 2 questions:

1) are the alloy rims that come with the GX model bare metal or are they coated?

2) What product do you use to polish them? I have Mothers Metal Polish and Mothers Mag and Aluminum Polish. Both say if the polish doesn't turn black to stop immediately because it's not a polishable material. It also says that it's safe for all uncoated metals.

Any insight on this because I don't want to wreck the rims.

I tried one of these products and it didn't turn black. So I've figured out from that, they're not a polishable bare metal. Beyond that, I'm still not sure what to use to polish them.

Most OEM wheels today are clear coated (painted) for durability.

If this is your wheel, it is painted silver and then clear coated.




I use Meguires Synthetic sealer and Collinite Super Doublecoat Auto Wax (No. 476s)

1. As mentioned rims are painted and clear coated.

you cant really polish alloy rims the same way how chrome rims shine.. take it from a guy that owns a 2011 mazda 3 gx. i have tried every product. what i ended up doing is painting my oem rims to Mazda 16w DUPLI COLOR jet black and damn it looks nice!
