Information is currently incomplete but apparently CX-5s can potentially leak fuel if rear-ended linky 1

Apparently bad enough for a stop sales alert too.
Confirmation from @Jeff-TheBiz or @CarLadyLisa?

Did you mean to tag @CarLadyLisa ? As opposed to ChristinaD ?
2010 Black Mazdaspeed 3 - Lightly modded
One of the exhaust bolts can puncture the filler pipe in a bad rear end or roll over.
Its a easy fix. Parts will be here in a few weeks.
Wow the internet works quick!
It is true, but not a stop sale. We just can't deliver the units until a repair is completed. Mazda is working on sending out the official notices and determining a fix at the moment.
Fuel filler pipe could rupture during a rear end collision and potentially cause leakage. No one has blown up or been injured.
One thing I know about Mazda is that they are sticklers for safety. If there is even a notion of something going wrong they take action promptly. It will all get fixed.
If anyone has some questions about your own CX-5 or wish for some more details call our service team at 289-627-1800.
Generally the recall process is...Get letter. Freak out a little. Get it fixed. Realize not really big deal.
@CarLadyLisa - thx! Is the recall covering 2013 to now or just 2015 onwards? There are conflicting reports unfortunately.
I'm a CX-5 owner and just noticed this on another forum (http://www.mazdas247.com) .
The Americans are a bunch of drama-queens....
Myself, not overly concerned but the wife-unit is another story.
2013 are fine. All 2014 to now.
oh big chunks of fudge.....recall letter where art thou?
Yeah. Sorry guys. Womp womp. Its an easy fix and its the potential of something happening.
If you are concerned there is an option to get a rental. We can arrange it.
guess what.....Honda is joining the recall party:
2016 Honda Civic 2.0L sales stopped due to piston issue
Recall isn't so bad and the fix is quick and cheap..
But a "Stop Sale" that kills a car.. I remember when the 3 first came out and the airbag sensor was an issue.. rental cars were hard to find due to the number of people that had them while we were waiting for the parts.
Damn you photobucket.....
It still could be worse. You could own a Toyota Tacoma and need your frame replaced.
That recall is still ongoing. There is a logistical nightmare.
Was test driving the CX-5 last October, nice car.
Interesting!
Will await my letter
Was in for an oil change on Thursday, was told that our 2016 CX-5 did not need the fix. Personally I don't think it's that much of an issue, not like the old ford pinto's in the 70's.
