Default Help me mazdaspeed fam!! Oily spark plugs and ash deposits

Guys im new to this forum and need some help and expertise.

I pulled out my spark plugs off my 2008 mazdaspeed 3 and they were all drenched in oil and had alot of ash deposits. The car still drives good. I called jimmy at street performance and he said theres nothing that can be done exept ride the car out til the motor blows. Based on research i think he is referring to oil filling up in the cylinders and hydrolocking the engine and killing it. Is there anything i can do? Is it the turbo? Head gasket? Pcv? How do i get pil out of there??

Probably damaged piston ringlands or turbo spraying oil. If its ringlands you're going to need a new motor.

Sir if you just type in google search "oil on tips of spark plug" youd see a lot of threads in any car on how to diagnose this.

Head gasket or ringland failure is the probable causes. How much engine oil you put in it? What was your OCI?

If there is oil on the bottom of his spark plugs he is going to have leakdown issues... aka broken/crack ringland or a ring is toast... either way oil on the spark plug bottom that is in the combustion chamber is not good news.

Unless you are having excessive blow by issues from a bad PCV you will need to replace the bottom end of the engine/rebuild it. (short block section)

First question; Did Jimmy actually look at the plugs or was the conversation over the phone?

Second Q; You sure its oil on the electrodes and not fuel saturation?

Third Q; Did you run the engine just before doing the plugs for a very short period?

If its fuel it may be nothing, or your running too rich. If its oil, then it could be several issues, but most likely oil seal ring(s) or valve seals.

Convo was over the phone. I checked the spark plugs in the morning after the car sat overnight. And im 100% sure its oil. I have pics but dont know how to upload here. What i think i will do is change the plugs, change pcv, add occ, change oil, compression test. And see where that goes. Anyone know who does valve cleaning on these cars for cheap?

Before you install anything else, do a compressiom test. This limits the idea of having ringland failure.

compression test does not tell you that the ringland is broken or cracked... you need to do a leakdown test. Compression tests shows you the health of the rings not the ringlands.
