    Default Going to buy . . .

Been lurking here and liking this site a lot. So after many months I have finally eliminated my other used car choices and have decided to buy a 2010-2013 Mazda3 GT 2.5 standard transmission, though I am in no hurry. So now my happy car shopping phase begins.

Once I get my Mazda3 (colour TBD), I anticipate my initial ownership ranked priorities will be:
    - all fluids changed and engine mechanicals checked and serviced as needed - DUH
    - full rust proofing done - TBD Crown or Rust Check - let's face it, Mazdas SUCK for rusting fast together with Hondas
    - acquire or DIY paint alloy rims black or gunmetal - this will increase inner well-being by more than 35%
    - acquire roof rack + TBD Yakima or Thule carrier bin - because I have kids, and I move sh*t around a lot

If you think I've left out something important in my above list - let me know!

Thanks to all the DIY/how-to and worthy advice givers on this forum - you guys are awesome. Cheers!

as stupid as it sounds, but when I had my 2.5 and put and exhaust and an intake on it, my fuel economy actually improved.

I drive a lot of highway and went from 450 to 550 with the mods. Sounds stupid, but made a big difference

Yeah, I still miss that car - so light, felt quick, easy to maintain, and had a true driver's cockpit. At the time, the Ford 3.0L Capri was my second choice - I drove one later on - man, what a memorable experience - moved like a Corrado VR6 but more balanced and years earlier.

    Interesting...

What exhaust did you put on?

    And SRI - corksport?

I had the CS SRI with the CS exhaust. I had the highfow cat option as well. Only draw back was that the exhaust was LOUD. Before I sold it, I purchased the CS resonator to tone it down.... It didn't do much if anything at all.

I don't use Krown or Rustcheck just because they drill holes in the body, making more problems for you. I go to permashine as they don't drill, just insert their oil spray hoses inside the panels and remove the headlights and tail lights to access the various areas and spray their anti-drip inside. Same price as the others they just take their time and they don't rush it.

From their website the rust proof price is $360(http://www.permashinebrampton.ca/pricing.html), while Rrown or Rustcheck go from 150-200 for what i know.....
Not saying one is better than the other one, I actually hate the drilling, but is definitely not the same price...

You are in luck. I can make this search super easy.

We have one that just came off lease. Should be cleaned up and available in the next few weeks.

I know on my 6.2 liter f250 when I put the stock exhaust back on I lost 2 mpg without changing driving habits

Oh God, I am waffling. No, not the breakfast food. I am slipping over to the other side . . . now intending to purchase a Mazda3 std. transm. hatch gen3, not a gen2. Newer car but more money. There go my budgets for beer, newer clothes, shoes, cappuccinos and tech gadgets. These are major first world problems I must face. Car lust is evil.

Its hard to argue with the super low interest rates, better fuel economy and warranty. Plus fancy gadgets. Now is the time before 2017 models arrive.
