    Default Blown Speed3 engine???

Started out with a road trip from Thunder Bay back to Mississauga at 4am Saturday morning but had to drop a friend off in Richmond Hill and Stoney Creek.

Start of the trip started off rocky when the guy I drove back with forgot to watch the gas levels and we were running on the gas light for 20km before a random house saved us so I thought I had my bad luck incident over with but noppee.

Finally drop off the girl in Stoney Creek and driving on the QEW by Third Line back to Misssissauga and KABOOM...something blew up smoke everywhere and the engine started knocking like hell so I quickly got to off to the side of the road and turned her off asap. (yesyesss I'm thankful I didn't get into an accident or hurt) but wow am I really ****ing upset.

A random guy saw my car smoking like a bitch so he was nice enough to pull over and check on me worried that I was on fire. We found a trail of oil behind me and a puddle growing underneath. (tried to research and oil pans usually crack when they blow an engine?)

Checked the dip stick and there was still oil in it but I'm guessing because it hasn't all leaked out.

Got a tow back to my house because I don't need to be charged up the butt for leaving it at a shop for the next couple days but was lucky to get the tow for $120 from the middle of Oakville to Meadowvale Mississauga.

It is now the next day, tried to find anything I could in the engine bay but all tubes look in tact and the leaking is at a minimum on the driveway right now/stopped? I'm too scared to attempt to start the car in case that makes things worse.

Shops are all closed and tried to go to Canadian Tire and they said they can't quote me until Tuesday.

Money is obviously a huge issue (student budget problems)
But on top of that...I'm in a huge time crunch because I'm supposed to drive 3 other people back up to Thunder Bay late Friday night/Saturday morning again.

Needless to say, I'm ****ing hurting on the inside...any suggestions, advice, help, anything will do because I've tried to keep myself educated with this car but there's tons of stuff I really don't know.

(JBR Stage 2 power path intake (includes the TIP), JBR short shift/weight, JBR RMM, Turbosmart blow off valve, res delete, and a stratified OTS stage 1 tune meant for that jbr intake)

are you sure its leaking from the oil pan? have you seen where there is a hole or crack? can you jack up the car to take a look see?

I'm guessing you hit an ice chunk dropped by an inconsiderate asshat and wrecked your oil pan. The plastic cover is useless and C30 people often switch to aluminium covers because of it. Can you jack up the car and look? Also don't start the engine without oil! Stopping it immediately was smart, and hopefully all you need is a pan.

Did you notice any metal fragments in the oil?

I jacked up the car and found this rod (or can I be extremely optimistic and hope that it's a mount of some sort???) in the lower left side of the engine (passenger side) but I can't find the hole as much as I tried to finger bomb it

    That's definitely a rod.

    I think @Dubcee hit it right on....unfortunately.

Start looking for a new engine.

    That sucks bigtime.

I'm still not grasping how bad it is...probably still in denial ahahha
But what kind of options do I have?

Full engine swap? brand new/used (I feel like the dealer will charge me up the butt for it)
Build the lower block? (not sure what that entails since I just know the fundamentals and some when it comes to cars)
Cost/where I should go? (certain mechanic shops, tuning shop, or if I can somehow acquire knowledgable people to do this in a garage?)

There is most likely head damage also, so you're looking for a new (used) engine. Search on here, there has been alot of talk on engine replacements lately. Or someone with knowledge can chime in here.

If that is in fact a rod from your engine, think about the damage that needed to occur for you to take that picture

I was going to say this earlier but I didn't have the heart.
Your mechanic, if he's good, can source you an engine or get a brand spanking new one from the dealer. Anyone know what a new one goes for?

I think a brand new one is around $4500 plus taxes then add another $1500 - $2000 or so to pull your old one and install the new one

Check scrap yards first, like Dom's Auto . If you have two friends to help you out you can pull it from the car together . Check first online to see where you can get one for your car.

you should look maybe for a new car, it could be cheaper than fixing the old one.

I think I found one in port hope for $3520 from Standard Auto Wreckers (Stock #DC375)...I'm just nervous about purchasing a used engine only to go zzb again.....but a dealer one sounds ridiculous

What about a completely different engine swap if I can find something a lot cheaper like a Jap spec one?

People say the engines off the ford focus (2.3 /2.5) are almost a direct fit for the Mazda 3 and cheaper . I believe most of them are still built by mazda .
