Stock 2004 --> 2006 radio swap issue

Hi Guys,

I just got myself a 2005 Mazda3 GS and i've been looking into doing an aux mod. After removing the stock radio and plugging in the aux cable to the back connector I tried testing the mod but I got no sound output.. after further reading i found out thats because my stock radio didnt have the "media" button. So I decided to go the the wreckers and get a 2006 radio with that button.

I swapped radios and the aux mod worked perfectly but the lcd doesnt work anymore.

Need to advice on installing an oem radio unit from 06 mazda3 with "media" button for aux mod into a 04 base mazda3..

I installed the radio from the 06 into my 04 but I lost lcd functionality. The 06 radio has its own oem plug for the lcd screen as opposed to my stock 04 which is integrated to the radio.

Any idea how I can finish the swap and get the lcd to work? Do I need to swap the lcd from the 04 unit to the 06?

I'm not sure you can do it. As your 04 has one plug that controlled the LCD and radio. The only way to fix it (if I am reading this all correctly) would be to splice in the separate connector from the 06 into your 04 harness.
