    Default Central lock problem

    Hey guys!

I found some threads here with almost the same problem as mine but not quite the same. I have a 2004 Mazda 3 and the issue is as follows - when I close all the doors the open door light still stays on - have checked and nothing is blocking the locks. With the keyfob I can unlock all the doors and the hatch but cant lock them. The only way to lock the doors is manually from the inside which excludes the hatch. When I turn the drives door lock it only locks the drivers door. I know there must be something connected to the door light so the car doesnt let me lock itself with the fob. Checked both the fuses and didnt find any problems. If someone has any advice would be much appreciated! Kinda sketchy to leave my hatch unlocked.

I would be looking at the hatch lock mechanism. I had a driver door look assembly go bad on me and the lock lever would immediately flip open at me if I tried to lock it manually. If you don't have that symptom on any of your 4 main doors, then they're probably intact. Hence why I say, look into the hatch lock mechanism.

Hey the main drivers door mechanism inside the door is the control unit for all 4 doors including hatch. I would find one from the junkyard and replace it. I have done it on a mazda3 2007 which had a problem where the doors would lock and unlock continually as you were driving and it was the main mechanism. Also I would check all the connection to all 4 door lock mechanisms inside the door panels and see if they are plugged in this would also cause a problem if corrosion got inside them.
