Default Question for people with Compustar 2-way remote starter

I have a Mazda 3 2010 GT-E with Push Button start.. I’ve just got a Compustar 2-way remote starter installed, I went with Compustar because I don’t like how the factory ones behave in which the engine shuts off when you open the door. I do have a question, is it a normal behavior with third-party 2-way remote starters that if I use my original fob to lock/unlock the car, the 2-way remote doesn’t get updated? For example, I lock my door using the remote or the button on the door handle, my remote still shows unlocked? So I should be using the Remote starter fob all the time now?

Mine is the same as well.

My wife always manually locks the doors and the fob still shows the car as unlocked even though it's locked.

I would use the fob so it will represent the state of the locks.

Any issues with the remote starter otherwise? I'm planning to get one but not sure how the push button plays with aftermarket ones.

My 2 way compustar starter also has an alarm built into it so when you lock it with the remote starter, it says "armed" which means the alarm is on aswell as doors lock. If you lock with the key fob only the doors will lock on your vehicle but the compustar remote will still say unlocked because the alarm's not on.

Thanks for the confirmation. So it is indeed the normal behavior them.

I had issues the first day after the install. Driving on my way to work, all electronics (Radio, lights etc. even the power steering!!) would shut off then turn back on after a few seconds. I thought they messed up the install but later found that they didn't tighten the battery enough. So I guess they messed up a little. I quickly tightened it and no issues afterwards. Funny though, after reading and researching online for remote starters, all I found was that every install for the Push Button start Mazda3 will make the car shut off when you open the door. Even the Mazda service person told me the same thing when demoing the remote after the install. So I walked over to the car and tested, to my surprise, the car didn't shut off when I opened the door. Though I have to press the brakes within 45 seconds for the take over. Otherwise it will shut off. Sounds like they have an outside installer come in to do the install for the dealership, so Kudos to that person.
