Default 07 Mazda 3 GT--Passenger headlight not working

My 07 Mazda 3 GT passenger headlights are not working but the rest work fine (signal and the amber light work fine)..when I hit the housing I can hear the motor...I also notice a lot of condensation..

Is is better to replace the ballast or the whole unit?

    Thanks

Can always try switching bulbs from working one.

If that's the case, you may just want to check the connections, maybe disconnect and reconnect the wires especially if you say there is condensation.

Given you mention you hear the motor sound when hitting it, your car has the factory HIDs?

If it's still not working, send me a pm and we can arrange a day for me to have a look at it. But you'll have to come to Pickering.
Either that or off to the dealership

Just came from my mechanic and he has checked everything. The ballast needs to be replaced.

The part #s listed on that site don't seem to match anything from this Mazda parts site.

I think the mazda part # you are looking for may be D530510H3 but check the above link and perhaps contact a dealership to confirm the part #. This is not a cheap part as it's listed at $ 424.58 USD for dealership price and the e-bay price seems pretty cheap for brand new OEM so I'd be careful.

Get a 2nd opinion by contacting @Hyperion before going the e-bay route.

Yea he did. I haven't done a first gen with oem hid, so I can't confirm that ballast. But you can often find the oem ballast on ebay. If the part number matches then I say go for it.

    Hey guys,

I contacted one of my old co workers who works for Mazda parts and he confirmed the part #D530510H3. I did find some on eBay. I have noticed most of the ones that list them as OEM as Mitsubishi on it and the knock offs has some other writing on it.

Also visited a Japanese part store today in the Yorkdale Mall area and he couldnt locate one either. He did tell me that the ballasts for each side are different model #'s; is that so?

Mitsubishi is one of the OEM ballast manufacturers. I highly doubt that they made different ones for you either side. I've never seen that before on any headlight that I worked on

Yes. For $70 it's a risk worth taking. Of course you can always see if the dealer has it in stock and compare vs your picture
