Because they have more expensive materials, or require additional steps/time/work/process to apply.

The Soul Red is a tri-coat or 3 stage paint process while the Snowflake uses pearl and too is a 3 stage process. Other colours that have an additional cost are probably called Mica which is the shiny bits that make the paint pop in the sun and too are more expensive materials.

All the above posts are totally accurate and then there is additionally, "what the traffic will bear as to Premium colors," i.e, another way for a car company to make money.

As an example, on a 2012 Chevy Cruze Eco which we also have, Crystal Red Tintcoat was a $325 option when we bought it new, yet that year, the identical color (same three stage paint job with identical GM paint code), was $900 more for a 2012 Chevy Corvette (and the 4-door Cruze has more surface area, requires more paint than the Corvette).

Yes, it costs more for the materials, and the three stage paint process for the Soul Red, but yes, Mazda would like a little extra margin on profit on their best selling color.
