Power steering light came on then went away?!

So I was driving and my steering wheel light came on and it was harder to turn the wheel then it went off. What could this be?!!

Manual or Auto? Was it while you were coasting, or just getting started from a stop? My light will come on when I'm on the brink of stalling because the ECU thinks the engine is dead and thus cuts the alternator field and other ancilliaries.

I forgot about that my gen 2 speed does that as well, the wheel would lock up if I'm close to stalling.

My power steering went when my serpentine belt broke, probably not the cause but if your battery light comes on as well it will probably be the case.

It's automatic. And yeah while coasting

How old is your battery?

When the battery spontaneously died while driving the car, i lost all power steering (while making a left turn). Scary.

in your case, it could be power steering pump/belt, alternator or battery.

check my old thread, i had the same problem. it ended up being the my ignition switch (50$ FIX)
