Default Buying Corksport Exhaust in Canada

Hi everyone. My son will be taking over ownership of my 2010 Mazda3 Sport GX and wants to add a Corksport exhaust (I was trying to talk him into Racing Beat but no luck). Does anyone know where to source one in Canada or find discounts on one from the US? My parents are in FL so I can always have it shipped there. Corksport is not willing to budge a single penny from their advertised price. I am also wondering if the racepipe is worth getting for $80 USD. I am told there will be no cutting involved if I get it but it does make the exhuast louder. Thanks everyone and I am certainly open to suggestions on other exhaust systems.

I was looking into getting a corksport exhaust shipped up to me, I chose against it and went with a magnaflow exhaust. If the racepipe deletes the catconverter, then it's illegal, but if it only deletes the stock resonator then it's ok. Exhaust will get louder, the sound is nice and it's not overly loud. To get the old exhaust off, whoever is installing it has to cut it off behind the cat, and another cut (for me) behind the axle to get the old system out easier. The cutting involved is minuscule, if you have an angle grinder or can rent one somewhere it would be a good idea, or bring it to a shop to do it. Tell your son to do more research around with your local mod shops and see what they have in stock, it will be way cheaper getting it from them instead of corksport.

Thank you. I checked locally and nobody has anything. Corksport told be zero cutting would be involved if I go with the racepipe. My son has shop classes in school and was told he could install there and get help from the teacher and friends. Is your Magnaflow T304 stainless or 409? I've shopped for them but it wasn't any cheaper than Corksport.

My exhaust is stainless steel, the part number is 15146. It looks like the cork-sport system bolts onto the back of the cat, yeah you're right, no cutting. Mine you had to cut because it's clamped. Yea, they will definitely have the tools needed at the school shop. My magnaflow was roughly 1k$ installed.

Thanks. He should be able to do the Corksport for around $697 CAD with racepipe and $589 CAD without. I think your Magnaflow stainless steel is 409 and not 304.

IMO Magnaflow are pretty close to Corksport, give them a try!

Would you pay more for Magnaflow? I can't find it cheaper than Corksport, plus Magnaflow is indeed the inferior 409 stainless steel and not 304 like Corksport.

If you're parents are in Florida and you can get it shipped to them and then to you and that works out cheaper it's probably best. Also if the gt is anything like the speed it had 2 cats so just doing a test pipe only removes one which means it's still legal because there's still a cat in... Have a look at http://www.tdotperformance.ca/2010-m...xhaust-systems

You have the 2.0 right? I guess the difference is the extra tailpipe for me (I have 2.5)

    Thoughts (by a guy with a 2L gx 2010)
Sound: Corksport is best in the market. Magnaflow is mediocre at best.
    Especially with the racepipe.
    To Racepipe or Not: Racepipe
    What does it do?
Deletes second cat, but still passes emissions, and doesn't throw any codes, as the second cat isn't monitored. Also makes it sound much better.
Install: Super Simple, 3 minutes with a hoist & no rust.
Pricing: Corksport hurts the wallet, a lot. But the hurt goes away after you start the car for the first time.

I didn't mind getting the magnaflow because it came with a lifetime warranty. Where as if any of it started to rust or decay, send them an email of it then they'll send you one for a free replacement.

It is the 2.0 so just a single outlet and cheaper than the 2.5 for sure. I can have it sent to FL and then brought to Canada when they arrive next month. I will tell my son about the racepipe. I think that's the way to go. I still like Racing Beat better because of the more subdued sound, but I am 44 and my son is 17. He likes loud better than me ! Thank you everyone .

Be careful. They may have to pay duty bringing it back. You're welcome! Best of luck to which ever way he chooses to go.

I'm not paying more for MF, I paid less.

    It was a custom install.

Thanks. Its a full cat back? Add $93 to the prices I quoted for Corksport because shipping is not free to US like I thought.

Back in the day, I had a Vibrant axle back exhaust on my Acura and was happy with the look, sound, and performance. Does anyone offer a bolt on axle back? I can't find one anywhere.

I also had an AEM cold air intake on my Acura and loved it but I am reading that a panel filter (AEM or K&N) with the stock airbox is best for the 2.0L Mazda. I appreciate all the input.

No just muffler, I don't think you'll see any gains from catback system unless you plan to modify everything else.

Exhaust won't net really any gains on a NA car without tuning.... forced induction is another issue

I agree. That is why I would like to find a cheaper bolt one axle back exhaust for him but no luck sourcing one. That is what I had on my Acura and I spent the rest on CAI, lowering springs, short shifter, strut tower braces, pulleys, lighter wheels and grippier tires. I enjoyed the better handling more than the noise from the exhaust.

Funny you mention that because I ordered the Corksport 5 minutes before you posted. That's the one he wants and we can install it ourselves. Total was $509 USD shipped, racepipe included. Its not what I would have spent the money on but I'm not 17.

I installed mine with racepipe, rust, and no hoist. It wasn't fun, but is doable. You need a helper to help you hold pieces or there will be a lot of swearing involved.

If performance is what you are after you won't find it here, you can get the same sound you one from your local shop or DIY.

My 2 cents: I think there are many CS fan boys here; one could just buy any Borla or Magnagflow from online retailers like partsengine or tdotperformance and pull a DIY
