20 across the board, never had any issues. Even when stopped by cops for RIDE, or speeding, never been accosted for the tint.

No such thing as legal limit. Entirely officers discretion.

correct: expansion, law in Ontario states that the people inside especially the driver must be visible from the driver or passenger side....So of it's a dark day you may be less likely to get as much tolerance...Officer dependable but there are reasonable limits

    Depends where you drive too.
I have 35% front and 20% back but wish I went darker.
However, I Was pulled over in QC as they have stricter tint laws there.
If Ontario only: I'd go 20-23%

I originally had 40% done the first time and then I went back to redo it and did 30% all around from autolinks. Doesn't affect night driving and still fairly dark.

Did they ticket you in QC? I know the can be dicks, but they shouldn't be ticketing you for tints with Ontario plates

Oh but they will. They sit at the border and target Ontario plates for free money. Quebec is only one step from being run by the mafia.

I believe you can fight it, but most people won't take it to court...

    Absolutely not

Something something obstruction of view or something. You can place a strip along the top (something like 5-6") as a sun shade.

Cars built after Jan 1, 2017 specifically have the tinting of windshields and front doors tinted more than 30% as illegal.

Law in effect as of July 1, 2016.

Just chiming in with my .02, I've tinted my cars for almost 30 years and I always go 20% all round in the rear and 35% front side windows, nothing on the windshield. Never had a problem with the cops (I'm in Ontario).

No, you're not allowed to do the front windshield other than the sun strip at the top.

I install film for a living

for most of my dealerships.... I use 20 percent all the way around, however once in a blue moon I will get someone who is worried about getting a ticket... and I will do 35 front 20 rears... any film on the front window is illegal.. its a grey area.

if YOU get pulled over the best advice is to have your windows ROLLED down before the officer walks up

I read about rolling all windows down and turning your interior lights on as a "make the officer feel safer" strategy.

Approaching an unknown car, middle of the night, unable to see who is in the car until you get close is probably a bit unnerving.

Nice side effect is hiding window tints

It's also good practice to do when at a border crossing, I always roll all windows down facing the guard booth down when approaching, I've noted allot less hassle getting through borders both into USA and back to Canada as they can see the back seat more problem. They always used to ask, but now that they don't have to it seems like the presume I have nothing to hide (I don't) as my window is already down.
