    Default Unhaggle-ing with dealers

So Unhaggle.com recommends offering 3 to 7% on top of the invoice price...anyone out there successful at offering less than 3% on a Mazda3?

Lots of people report good experiences buying from Jeff @ Mazda of Toronto. I understand he cuts straight to the best deal.

The problem with unhaggle is that they make money from the dealer if you buy a car.... So.... Sure you can use it as a starting point, but aim lower.

They also don't take holdbacks into account. You're better off doing some research, getting out a calculator, and crunching the numbers yourself.

And buy a car at the end of the month.

Maybe I'll go see @Jeff-TheBiz about our family's next car, my mom really likes the cx-5. Thanks for the recommendation!

Not sure why but for some reason I feel I have already debunked this.

Unhaggle and Carcost are businesses and they make a lot of money. From consumers as well as dealers.

Yes they sell your info to the dealer but both give you accurate info about the costs of a car. They do however not list other promos that may be available. I.e. No payments for 90 days, free nav or equivalent credit etc.)

Hold backs in Canada do not become part of the sales gross so unless you own a dealership you won't be seeing any of that.

In the states, dealers have a marketing budget given to them by the manufacturer, in Canada that is what the "holdback" or "whisp" is used for.

Completely a myth, a car only counts towards a goal when it leaves the dealership so unless you pickup the same day, buying at the end of the month means nothing. Cost at the beginning of the month is the same at the end.

Smarter sales people will often fight hard with their manager to take a skinny deal at the beginning of the month to try get a few units in to get a running start.

My deals are the same regardless of the time of the month. All Good.

At least you admit there are sales goals. The point is that there are times where the dealership will be willing to take less money for a car if the sale pushes them towards a goal. If you have 48 cars sold, your goal is 50, but the deadline is tomorrow..... Well...

Unless the car rolls the same day nothing matters.

If a dealer is 2 away they will just register 2 demos.
