    Default A/C Stopped Working :(

    Hi Everyone,

I lent my cousin my car for the past couple of weeks and he brings it back and says oh by the way the A/C stopped working last night. I press the A/C button but I don't see the clutch engaging. Does anyone have any idea's as to what it might be? In the end if it is the Compressor I am just going to leave it broken as it is not worth $600-$1000 to get it fixed.

    Mazda 3 2008 GT

    Thanks T

I think its the compressor if the air is hot or you hear a noise. I also know some people used Freon in their cars to start it back up. Hopefully you can find a fix

Was your cousin blasting the AC all night long?

probably you have a leak and the refrigerant was drained out thats why the ac is not engaging or who knows maybe just a fuse.

AC doesn't just die over night.
either you've had a leak for a long time and it is finally low enough that the pressure sensor prevents it from kicking on the compressor
    the compressor is shot
the condenser took a rock through it and you lost all refrigerant (again preventing the compressor from coming on)
the hoses ruptured (again kicking off the compressor)

your first step is to evacuate the ac system, which you need a machine for. If its empty right from the get go, you probably have a serious leak. Then you need nitro, which will guide you in to the direction of where your leak is. Having fixed many A/C systems at work (not mazda) the repairs can get VERY costly.

You don't see or don't hear the clutch engaging?

I would check the obvious first; A/C fuse which is under the hood I believe, and your A/C belt.

If both are good you may follow McGuyver's instructions.

So I bought it to Jimmy and he thinks it is the AC Clutch Coil. Just wondering if anyone knows where to get one. I see lots on eBay with like $40 shipping. hoping to find it local?
