Default Disable GEN 4 DRL "Headlights"

Can't seem to find anything about this, I assume its software related for Canadian spec 4th gen 3s.
Still thought I would ask if anyone knows how to disable the headlights being on as DRL's and just have the halo leds be the DRLs?

    Thanks

    Easy fix ...remove the bulb

If you replace the bulb to an led bulb it should stop the DRL working (would only work on high beam)
It did that to my 2012 ...had to by a relay to get it back on

hmmmmm, guess that would make sense.

Should have thought of that. I assume the drls, headlight and hi beams are separate bulbs.

if you don't know what to do on any other 3 but a 2nd gen, stay in your own lane

it could be as simple as pulling the fuse for it.. that's how it can be done on the 3rd gen IIRC, but I'm not 100% sure as I didn't really want to do the mod...
this isn't very good help, but I'm sure the bigger general US mazda3 forums has the info you need

I believe the 4th gen, like my CX-30, has LED headlights that do not have bulbs. You'd have to pull the fuse for the headlights to achieve what you're asking for, but then you lose headlights.

    Have you tried this :
2019 Mazda 3 have the halos only during the day. After playing around with my setting yesterday I figured it out.

    • In exterior light settings TURN OFF daytime running lights.
    • On the headlight lever turn your lights on instead of auto. (headlights should automatically turn off after 30 seconds of turning off the ignition)

That is interesting, I went the the lighting settings for the car and it doesn't have the DRL off option, apparently it does existing in markets where DRLs are not required but looks to be disabled in Canada.

Went through the fuse diagram also and yeah it would only work with not being able to have headlights at all, so not going that route.

It is very odd that when the car is stopped, and the headlights are set to on, only the halos light up.......as soon as the car starts to move the headlights come on. So it can only look cool for posing while parked.

Yeah, weird isn't it. The only possible reason I can think of is that that accent lighting isn't bright enough to be considered a DRL by Canadian law or possibly laws in some other country and they just force it everywhere that DRLs are required.
