Default Mazda 3 Sport GT 2018

    Good evening all,
Recently joined this forum. Long time Mazda 3 Sport owner here (2005), she's treated me well, but I'm thinking it might be time to take the plunge into new car market. I was starting to look at the Mazda 3 Sport GT (2018) and I was just wondering if anyone could provide any recommendations/comments on any recent positive experiences with dealerships/sales people in Toronto?

    Appreciate the feedback.

    I second this.

I live in Ottawa. I bought my first Mazda3 from Jeff just over 10 years ago in summer 2007, after learning about him on this forum. A painless process, well worth the drive to Toronto at the time.

Now, alas, it has come time to replace the 2007. I did test drives here, initially thinking of moving up to a CX-5, but then settling on another Mazda 3 Sport GT. I used Unhaggle to get an idea of dealer cost. I got quotes from a couple dealerships in Ottawa [that was not pleasant...]. Then I contacted Jeff and got a really good quote form him -- we had a great phone conversation and he patiently answered the outstanding questions I had that my research couldn't answer (because, you know, Mazda Canada has yet to put info about the 2018 Mazda3s on their website....). The challenge right now is there are pretty much no more 2017s available, and the 2018s are only just coming in -- the dealerships local to me don't even have any 2018 yet and won't until probably "October". Evidently the dead of summer is a bad time to try to buy a Mazda 3 ;-)

After a last test drive to confirm the choice of Mazda3 vs CX-3, I tried to get one last quote from my closest dealership here, the one I service my 2007 at. While the salesperson who did the test drives with me was great, the numbers person would not even give me any numbers until I signed a commitment to do business with them. Instead I got to listen to ten or fifteen minutes of the numbers guy go on and on and on about how he could give me such a good deal, but wouldn't give me numbers unless... Wouldn't even tell me when they would be getting their 2018s in -- said they would have to contact their rep who would have to contact Mazda Canada to find out (really? you have no more 2017 and yet you don't know when you will be getting the New That Which You Need To Sell? Lying or incompetence.]. Slimey. I could think of other less charitable words. Kind of felt like what a mouse must feel like being toyed with by the hungry cat... I thanked them for their time and walked out. They lost that sale and probably all future sales from me.

I emailed Jeff and said I am buying from him. A quick phone call and everything is done. I have my VIN. I pick it up in a few weeks when I have to be in Toronto anyway for other reasons.

Night and day difference in how the local dealerships dealt with me and how Jeff did. Jeff was professional; painless; pleasant; informed and informative. Patient. No pressure. Was worth 5 hours each way last time and will be again this time and in 4 years when the lease ends.

Regardless of who you choose, remember to listen to that gut if it sets off alarm bells.

    Good luck.

    SW

A couple of ways. I dowloaded Tapatalk on my smartphone. It's super easy to download it that way. Some suggest imgur and link it to where you want it.

I am seeing more GS built in Japan than GTs.

    Just check the VIN.

So if the VIN starts with a "J" then it's made in Japan, right? How about one made in Mexico? Starts with a "M"?

Driver's door placard also clearly states where is was manufactured including date of build.
