No, I'm not hitting on you. You're not that pretty.

We have a TM3 home owners section, meaning probably some of you have garages, tool chests, etc.

Would love to see how you organize things in the garage and in your tool boxes. How do you have the garage laid out? How do you organize your wrenches, sockets, drills, etc? What cool things do you have that I don't know about? (people used to comment on my blue bin brackets on the wall).

Always looking for ideas on how to make the garage more efficient.

Tires hanging on the wall for attention.

At various stages in it's build (and ya, I sold my MS3, so it's not in there anymore).

That's a good looking compressed air setup! Did you do that yourself? Bust out the pipe threader and wrenches? Not many people would have a filter/regulator piped into their home system.

Yes, everything you see in those pics I did myself (including the air setup, lift, building the benches/cabinets, etc.). Although @DLYDRVN and @Bully Dog Racing have helped me out with my crazy projects over the years. I have a cheap princess auto pipe threader, works pretty well if you take your time and use lots of cutting fluid. Compressor in the basement saves a bunch of floor space and makes it quiet when the compressor is running...although this IR compressor isn't nearly as bad as my old oilless one.

Awesome looks great @SomeGuy! I really wish I had at least one bay as a 1.5 car garage (that's what yours looks like). Having the extra space around the car would have been really nice. I do have a 2 bay, which would have been just fine, but mine is 2 doors, so there is a post in the middle (can work around it, but nicer if I could have pulled straight in).

Good idea on the compressor setup. I'll have to think of something similar when I go to do mine. Not sure I'd be able to put mine in the basement (wife would probably hate it ) but maybe I could run a line around from the back of the house. Will have to see how much lose a run that long would be. Won't be until next year anyways when we finally get a back yard...

    @shift8

Mine was sold as 2 car...it's fairly tight, especially losing the chunk on the left with stairs to the house, but I can fit two vehicles in if need be (I can even get my two SUV's in now). Most of the time just one vehicle is parked in there on a nightly basis though. It's nice when working on a vehicle though having all that space around the vehicle and having that extra bump out at the back makes a huge difference since the parking space isn't taken up with the tool box or bench.

Compressor wise, don't use air hose, use solid pipe if you do it...it's far more durable and looks better. In the basement isn't bad at all, it's fairly quiet on the main floors of the house. My wife is never bothered by it. The other advantage though with the big ass compressor is that even doing tire changes, it might only cycle once (if at all). The only time it runs a long time is if I'm using a die grinder or air saw or some other pig on air. So it's manageable in the house. When I finish the basement I will sound deaden the room the compressor is in to further isolate it from the house.

A couple huge tips before you start on finishing your garage:

    - If it needs insulating, do it now (even if it means tearing down drywall).
    - While down, run any wiring you want behind the walls, lots of outlets everywhere...I have four circuits of plugs from my sub panel scattered around the walls and in front of the benches, plus a circuit from the basement so I can do work on the electrical in the garage but still have lights, plus have a few high amperage plugs by the panel for welders or 20 amp tools.
    - Add extra lights, I have 6 x LED shop lights that are 4500 lumens each...it's like daylight even at night.
    - Paint the entire thing an off white or super light grey, it makes it brighter and stays cleaner (use semi-gloss paint for easy clean up).

Do all that stuff before you start building other stuff in it...you won't get at those walls later. I spent the first few months of working on it just getting the bare walls where I wanted them before I did benches or lift or air or anything else.

@SomeGuy I love the lift. I was eyeing up the portable ones. Wish I could afford. Would make working under the car so much easier/safer.

Yea I've been eyeing the quickjack for a while. With the new house and all the things that goes along with it, it keeps dropping down the priority list.

Maybe next summer. Dealing with some maint issues on the MS3 so likely just be sitting on jacks this winter.

We'll find out how insulated the garage is too

Speaking of which, what space heaters do you like for the garage? Think @Booter22 has one that got put recently?

All in, after you count the lift and shipping and air supply it needs and custom hydraulic lines (I put my console in a different location than standard) and concrete work, etc...it was around $6000-6500 to do. It's pretty nice to work on and given that I couldn't put a full rise lift in, this mid rise is decent.

The quickjack is pretty neat and nice that it's portable. Doesn't lift as high, but for tire/brake service even getting it a couple feet up is plenty.

Anything that's natural gas...don't bother with the electric ones, they can take the nip off but never make it comfortable. My garage is roughed in for natural gas heat but I've yet to go buy a unit yet. Probably going to do Modine or Reznor, generally better quality than Mr Heaters, but even those Mr Heaters are decent (just known to develop rattles earlier).

i just have a floor heater. electric plug in. but it hangs around +5 to 10 in there so i hardly use it. waiting for my friend to find me a used good shape small furnace and we would put that in there. if not i was considering getting a gas heater that hangs from the ceiling.

Mine is fairly utilitarian. I should have done everything @SomeGuy said before I threw a project in there but money was an issue and I needed to get the project home to keep it moving forward.

I have the same wheel rack everyone else does. The bench someone down the street was throwing out so I brought it home on my son's wagon (seriously) and cut it down to fit and added some shelfing. It's pretty heavy but is also bolted to the floor so it doesn't move when I put stuff in the vice (the vice in those pics has actually been repalced as it broke)

I saved a few bits from my kitchen to give me some more storage at the immediate bench area.

The only "trick" I use is saving old jars and screwing their tops into a shelf that hold my radio to hold screws, nuts, bolts, and what not. No compressor yet, not wired for 220 (Welder is 110) and I added 6 tubes worth of led lights and a bug light lol

I would like to do a proper garage build one day but desire to finish my truck is taking priority.

About a week ago installed my anniversary present. At my last house I got lucky and the loft I built in the garage housed the speakers perfectly. In this one got lucky again that the speakers fit like a glove

Yea it's been in the works for a bit. Mostly all Christmas gifts. Thinking about swapping out for Chemical Guys.

Honestly I just use the shit out of the liquid wrench penetrating fluid. The rest is just for show.

Chemical guys is all hype. I've used their AllClean+, Innerclean, Jetseal, and Pete's 53 wax.

The only one that didn't disappoint was the Allclean.

Check out eshine.ca.... They used to be a sponsor here. I haven't heard from them lately. Even over-the-counter Meguiar's is better than Chemical guys.

Chemical Guys wheel guard is decent. I have not used much of their other stuff. I use mostly 3D products now.

single car garage. man door on the left. garage behind. bike on the right and just some more shelves and mini fridge on the left.

peg boards and boxes from home depot. top cabinets and shelves are from ikea. work for what they are needed for. might put up some more pegs on the outside wall to hold shovels and such or hooks. still not sure yet
