Nav map updates - a whopping $190 for 3 years' of updates

Wanted to do map updates (2014 Mazda3 GS with nav), and realized that my 3 year complimentary updates are expired, and now NavTeq wants a whopping $120 for one-time update, or $190 for 3 years' worth of updates.

Are there cheaper alternatives to updating the maps? Not talking about using Google Maps on my phone, but am interested in updates to my car nav.

Eh, I flashed firmware to latest supported by the AIO tweaks, installed AA with those tweaks and now just use Waze.

Will it work with CarPlay? Don't have Android phone...

edit: found the site, looks like only Android Auto is supported. I believe i patched some tweaks 2+ years ago, but am on version 30-something of the firmware.
