So I've been working on a bunch of maintenance things on the MS3 lately, one of which is some low voltage issues, causing some random CELs, first around the throttle body, then the accelerator sensor. Before going and replacing some sensors, I wanted to get the main fuse box cleaned up a bit.
I removed the battery and battery box (which holds the ECU) and then replaced all the mini fuses (10A and 15A) in the main fuse box, cleaning up it up a bit, and checked under neat to make sure there wasn't any mice trying to nest, and that all the wires were good (luckily they were, no evidence of anything nesting, etc).
Put everything back together yesterday, go to fire up the car, and it won't start. I hear the relay click over, but no starter. The immobilizer is enabled and won't start the car (flashing car/key LED in the dash when starting the car).
From what I can tell, the ECU somehow lost the pairing with my key. I can't reprogram it because I only have the one key, and not 3 of them to repair against.
Has anyone run into this and gotten it fixed? From what I can tell I need to call a Mazda dealership to get things re-paired, but wondering what is involved. Not sure if this is something that can be done without towing the car in (which would be incredibly inconvenient).
Any experience would be appreciated, even if it's just to tell me what to tell Mazda
