Default My Mazda sounds like paint can! (rattling from the back end)

Yesterday driving home my car started rattling pretty bad that I pulled over thinking something is literally being dragged. Also checked the trunk hoping it was something metal bouncing around, but no luck. It makes some of the noise when I pushed up and down on the left/ passanger side of the trunk so its coming from that end. but when driving esp over some bumps and cracks on the road it literally sounds like a paint can being shaken!

I replaced stabilizer bar end links last year!! when I had some creeking noise coming from back of the car but it was never like this!!! what else could it be?

Check the rear shock mount at the top of the shock. They tend to crack in half. I had the same sound and that's what it was for me.

100% this. Upper rear strut mount. Just look up in your wheel well and see if the shock is firmly attached.

Now you just gotta hope it's not totally blown out with broken studs...easy to change a mount (5-10 minutes), crappy to replace broken studs.
