    Default Battery draining

It takes 1-2 days for the battery to drain completely on my 2006 Mazda 3i sedan.
The mechanic says that the battery, alternator and starter are OK and that I have some electrical problem around the drivers door.

Also - my "door ajar" dashboard light is ON all the time even tough all doors are well closed.

Earlier this year I was replacing the cabin filter and disconnected some fuses but I re-checked them and they seem fine.
I don't see any other lights that stay on when the car is off.

Can this dashboard light be draining the battery?
Would you replace the entire door lock to fix this light?
What other steps can I try to find the battery drain source?

    Thanks!

you may have damaged the PJB (the "fuse box") when you disconnected it to get to the cabin filter, if you didn't disconnect the battery first
if you did, make sure all of the connectors are seated completely (after disconnecting the battery first, of course)... loose connections can cause weird issues

So if your door switch is broken, then perhaps your interior light is on too? If you have super dark tint you wouldn't notice when walking away from the car.

Yeah I would be replacing that door switch first and then go from there.

I recently moved to Sudbury for school, it’s -25 here and my battery has been dying the past several times I go to start it. It turns over, and a series of rapid clicks occurs. Could it just be a crappy battery and the cold killed it? I make sure all my lights are off/ interior lights are always off in order to put less load on a battery that isn’t charging. If anyone has any suggestions or thoughts (recommendations on batteries for cold weather) I’d appreciate it! Thanks guys

I'd say its probably the battery, but you could always check your connections; battery terminals and starter connections are tight and clean.

As for a battery choice I can't say enough about the AGM batteries; They hold their charge better, charge faster, just all and all superior to regular batteries.. I bought the Motomaster Eliminator ultra AGM a few years back and its a damn good battery. No slow starts in extreme cold whatsoever. More expensive but well worth it. I work at TTC and recently they have moved to AGM batteries and figure its going to save millions in lost time and future expenses.

Just bought the one flagrum recommended. Starts way better than the old one did! Hopefully it’s nothing other than a crappy battery

Congrats. You should be good for years now, and to think they come with a 5 year 'replacement' warranty.

But don't abuse it though, keep following your regimen of having everything off for cold starts. In cold temps I always make sure nothing is on such as; lights, fan, stereo, wipers not on auto. Therefore the battery sees as little load as possible.

    Good luck.
