Clicking noise coming from dashboard when selecting windshield defroster

It only happens for a few seconds then it stops and only when I select the defroster after it was in another position. It sounds like the mechanism that changes the path of the air is getting stuck. I have a video but Tapatalk won't let me upload it for some reason so I will upload it when I get home.

Yup, air flow selector...could be just frozen up from the cold temps or could be busted. Does air still come out the windshield vent?

Could also be the divertor flap or whatever it is that select inside or outside air. While the heat is blowing on your face/feet, hit the recirc button and see if you hear the sound.

Well you're right about that. It makes the noise when I turn recirc off. I never realized it, when you use the defroster recirc automatically turns off so I thought it was the mechanism for the defroster. Well it still works for now but is there anything I can do to fix it.

Best case scenario: Something is caught inside there and jamming it up, I'd suggest pulling the cabin air filters as a start and seeing what you see.
Worst case scenario: Have to replace the diverter.

It's an AC Actuator Part #BBY461B60 problem, I have the same issue with my car dealership wanted nearly $400 to fix it...

hi, were you guys able to fix it? It's the Blend Door Actuator (aka Fresh air Intake Actuator) that's causing that noise and needs to be replaced. I tried to follow a guy's blog HOW-TO to fix it but there was one screw (the "TOP SCREW" shown in his picture in the blog) I couldn't see nor remove. I tried to stick my head in there to see where exactly the screw is but I just can't get in there to see it. Does anyone know how to get this screw off or know an easier way to access it? thanks.

no problem. If you figure out how a way to remove the TOP SCREW in this picture please share it. I can't get my head far enough up/in there to the screw. thanks.
