Who, other than OME, makes break pads manufactured using hot rolled, pickled, and oiled (HRPO) steel as oppose to untreated black steel. Apparently, break pads made with black steel is the cause of corrosion and premature break failure according to Global Brake Safety Council http://driving.ca/auto-news/news/bra...art-very-early. The above link mentions Federal Mogul that makes Wagner pads uses treated steel. I couldn't find any other information of manufacturers that use HRPO steel in the Internet. I guess one has to go with Mazda parts to be sure.

An interesting fact is out of 3200 replaced brake pads collected from shops in Toronto and Houston, 67 per cent showed no reason for replacement, with more than 50 per cent of the lining material on those remaining.

Read that article early in the week. It would be interesting to find out the manufacturing process of the various companies.
