    Default ECM Replacement

Has anyone had to replace their ECM?

    I have a 2007 Mazda 3, 2.0L, MT. It's confirmed the ECM is toast.

Any suggestions or recommendations on where to go or purchase?

    Thanks in advance.

Scrap yard is probably your best bet.

Yeah, I already started looking around various JDM scrap yards. I just wasn't sure if anyone had dealt with this before. I also found a shop that can program the used ECM for about $200.

Also during my search I also (sadly) discovered apparently that the 2.0L ECM is not repairable like the 2.3L ECM.

it is NOT a plug and play replacement
the "as-built" data needs to be reprogrammed and ECU reflashed... essentially, it has to be "married" to the car

I don't think a JDM ECU will work either

you'll need a shop that has access to all the mazda programming data or you'll need to go to the dealer

if whoever diagnosed your issue and determined it to be the ECU, you should go to the dealer and have them do their diagnosis... it's very rare for an ECU to fail
