Default Accidentally loosened fibers on headliner

I just got a brand new Mazda 3 but noticed a dirt mark on the headliner when I got it home. I tried to clean it with a brush but ended up loosening the fibers and creating what's called "pilling". I did a little research and saw what this guy did for his seats might work for my headliner.

What are your guys' thoughts? I'm not sure what to do. Kinda frustrated since it's brand new. I'd post a pic but the site won't let me for some reason.

    Thanks.

A regular disposable razor will work the same way...it a trick of the tailoring trade. Light pressure/sweeping motions; don't go crazy or you will create a bigger mess
