Default Difficult time selling my manual transmission Mazda3 :(

How do you guys sell your manual transmission cars, I'm having such a difficult time selling mine
Even though the car looks great and very low mileage (66k), people still tend to turn around once they find out it's manual transmission.
I updated my ad on Kijiji and Autotrader to clearly say it's manual transmission and now I stopped getting any emails. I did my research and I believe the price is very reasonable, $8k for a 2012 Mazda3 GX with only 66k kms.

Most people nowadays only drive auto and dont know how to drive manual. Its more so the younger kids or car enthusiasts who like the manual cars. I still miss my manual car

I think it's a combination of factors - base model, old tech engine, colour. I've seen several 2014's in the $10k range, even below, so just a bit more money for more "car".

Good luck with the sale, I'm sure someone will want it!

really? what was the mileage of these cars? i really did a thorough research and i thought my price is more than fair. i guess i'll keep lowering the price until someone buys it.

Mileage was around 100k. There was a 2014 GX hatch a few weeks back, with Enkei 17" rims, for $9,500. I found a 2014 GS hatch, auto, 110k, for $10,500 about 1 month ago. Scarborough Mazda has a GS sedan auto a bit under $11k. There was a white GT 2011 sedan for about $8500, manual, a few months back on kijiji.

I'm looking around for a white 2014+ for my wife, these were the lowest prices for 2014's I saw, but they are exceptions.

Please don't lower the price just because of me, I would feel guilty!

No I think the market is not what I thought it would be. I still think that having a manual transmission is the major contributor for not getting many emails. I posted my ad about 3 weeks ago and I only received 2 offers, both $7,200 which I believe is kinda low. The car only has 66,000 kms and it still drives like new. It's very quiet and smooth. Overall it's in excellent condition, I live in a condominium building so it was parked in a garage since the day I bought it new.

I love my manual tranny but it seems like there's fewer demand for it these days

You have a 6 year old base model economy car in manual...if you aren't getting offers, your price is too high...your car is only worth what the market will pay. An offer of $7200 when you're asking $8000, I'd have taken in a second.

Mazda tend to depreciate more than other car manufacturers for some reason. Don't expect to get reasonable offers from Kijiji because it's mostly lowballers.

    Goodluck

Thanks my fellow Mississaugan. Yes, I notice that out of all Japanese cars, Mazda depreciates the most, even though they are good looking and very reliable cars. I think the rust issue in early models contributed to this, I see lots of them on the street in horrible shape. I just purchased a 2007 Honda Pilot and there is not even one speck of rust on the body, it still looks incredible.

i have colleagues with long memories and have sworn never to purchase a mazda3 ever again due to rust issues.

but your car looks like it's in great condition. best of luck on the sale.

The second gen seems to have been fixed in terms of rust. Knock on wood. I just picked up another first gen that was routinely rust proofed and still has 2 specs on the rear doors.
In terms of the offer for 7200... I would have taken that. When I try to sell something for 600 and get offers for 150... and I know the item is worth at least 1200. That’s an insulting low ball. Yes your mileage is low and the car is clean. But when you buy an older car with low km’s and you start driving it. That’s when stuff breaks. I just bought another 05 sports coupe. It was low miles and a garage queen. In the first 2 months of owner ship, I drove maybe a week. Thermostat, pulleys gave up and chewed the belt, clutch fan went, coil spring broke. Now I wonder what’s going to break next lol

It's definitely the manual transmission. I had no trouble at all selling my 2010 Mazda 3 Sport GX with an automatic transmission and 180,000km last year. I don't think the trim line is that important. Your car has the major features: automatic windows, locks and AC.
