Just a FYI post;
Okay I've heard many people talk about the 2.3 becoming an oil pig, being a terrible engine etc. Well recently I started experiencing a loss of oil at a rate of about 2+ litres between 8k oil changes, where before that, I had zero noticeable loss.
I am presently at 332,000 Kms on my 2.3 NA engine.
After much thought and discussing the issue with several mechanics which I work with, I concluded it could be simply the PCV valve.
So I changed out the PCV and It was not an easy task, as the intake manifold needs to be removed plus other things to get to it. It was well worth it though, as since the change I've put 3000k on her and no noticeable oil loss whatsoever, checking at 500km intervals. The engine runs smooth as always.
So point of the post is; Don't condemn your engine to quick for loosing even a substantial amount of oil right off the bat, as it could be a relatively easy and cheap fix.
