Default Hello! | Rev matching advice | Shop suggestions

I'm dumping this into the general section because it encompasses a few areas.

Firstly, hello everyone! I first posted in the forums a few months ago because I was looking at a few cars and wanted advice. Allow me to introduce my '07 hatch:

I got the 5MT, and I've definitely gotten smoother at driving it but I still am running into issues getting smooth rev-match downshifts. It almost seems like I've plateaued with my smoothness but then I also wonder if it just is a slower process getting that last 20% of the way there after the solid technique base is built. Any advice on smoothing it out? Should I try to learn double clutching or is that a waste of time?

I also wanted to make my shifter a little smoother as it's a bit stiff on the 5/R side. Can I just expose the base of the shifter and squirt a little oil around there, and that would help things?

Although I used to live in Mississauga, I've now relocated to Northern Ontario (the photo above is basically taken at the end of my driveway, I'm super fortunate to be here). Does anyone have any shop suggestions around the Greater Sudbury/Manitoulin area that have good reputations or are known for working with Mazdas? Also, anyone on this forum in the area?

One of the things I'm hoping to deal with is my AC isn't currently working. There appears to be a lone wire running from the top of the fuse box down to the compressor which I thought was odd; apparently the place I got it from had to change the compressor right before I got it and it worked at first, but faded away to nothing within a week. Any known AC issues that would be good to look for?

    Thanks everyone!

I’ve been going to pallidino Mazda for about 2 years now, that’s really the only place I can think of.

Are you rev matching by clutch in, hold gas steady and downshift, clutch out, or are you blipping the throttle while downshifting?

    I've been doing it blip-style.
