Default Add Bose OEM in 3rd gen Mazda 3

    Hello people,

I'm really sorry for my english (I am from Quebec)

I have a 2015 Mazda 3 Gt with the OEM Bose sound system. I like the sound and I'm generaly satisfied about it, but I'm a little bit disappointed because it does not have a sub in the trunk. So, my question: is it possible to add the OEM sub that we could find in the 2nd gen Mazda 3 in my 3rd gen? Maybe someone here do this????

I don't want something aftermarket and a big setup, it's just to add a small punch to the existant Bose system!!!!

    Thanks to everyone!!

    Hey Phil
I would ask your Mazda Dealer first ...
then ask the people at Bose...
Maybe they can offer a simple plug n play solution

there's a sub under the passenger seat.. just because you don't see a sub in the trunk, doesn't mean you need it in the trunk

The 3rd gen does not have a sub; 2nd gen sub is powered by the bose amp so you can’t just “transplant” it. The 2nd genbsubbis really small anyways.

I have the same car, I added a small powered sub in the trunk using a plug and play LOC from PAC.

Just to let you know, you do have 2, 9" woofers in the front doors of your car.

They are special to the Bose package on the car, and they are much bigger than the regular Mazda 3 speakers.

well a 2012 GX sound system has 4 6x8 speakers in the doors, and thats all.

The 2010-2013 GT or Speed3 with Bose got an 10 speaker system, one in the dash, 2 in mirror sill panels, 1 in each door (lower) 2 in the C pillars, and a Subwoofer either in the back dash or in the spare tire hole on hatchbacks. Bose amp located under passenger seat.

Yup that sounds about right. The cover is round 8-9" thing.
10 speakers in the GT & Speed3 ..is this the same as in the 3rd Gen?
It must surely add extra weight to the car.

In the 3rd gen it may only be an 8 Speaker system. One in the middle of the dash, one at each corner of the dash, one in each door, One speaker in back dash. (Can't be positive about the rear speaker on the 3rd gen. Haven't taken that off, but definitely room for 3 in the dash, and one in each door.)

    I drove the 2018 sedan
Played the same music off my Poweramp player
I just could not get the same sound as in the 2012 GX
...call me weird it just sounds better in the 2012...

If you can't find the sub under the front seat when playing music, then you need to upgrade your sound system.

I can confidently recommend the JL Audio MicroSub+

I have the smaller 6" version that doesn't use a built-in amp and I am very happy with it. I already had a spare amp from a previous vehicle, so it was cheaper for me to install a LoC ... also I wanted the smallest enclosure I could get.
Find a good shop in your area to run the wiring for you and enjoy the bass.
