Hi all - happy to join the community. I just picked up a new-to-me 2013 Mazda 3 GT 6MT last week, and have been enjoying getting acquainted with the car.
I happened to notice yesterday that the coolant is on the low side. When researching what to top it up with, I realized that at some point in the car's history the coolant had been replaced with some sort of orange coolant. There was a small front collision claim, so I could see it being replaced if the radiator was repaired at some point.
As far as I can tell, my car should have come with green FL22 coolant.
- I'm assuming it'd be bad to just top up the orange coolant with more orange coolant, given that I have no idea exactly what the coolant is
- From reading it also seems like a bad idea to switch to green coolant without a proper flush
Should I go to the dealer (or if anyone has any recommendations for independent shops in the Vancouver area...) and ask them to do a complete flush with FL22? Is there a DIY flush procedure I could do at home that flushes the system adequately to ensure no orange-green mixing?
Thanks for the advice!
