To see or not to sell.. 2015 GT

Hello,

I know it's really quiet around here lately, but here is something I'm debating. Since I'm working from home (for an indefinite period!), I don't need 2 cars. I have a 2015 GT in a great shape (garage queen status), low mileage (60k). I really like it however it's just collecting dust in the garage.

These are approx rounded numbers! I owe about $8k, and I can probably get around $15k (so net $7k). In 1 yr, I'll "have" $7k + $6k (payments + insurance for 1 year), so $13k.

If I sell in let's say in 1 yr from now, and I get $12k, balance would be $3k, so I would "have" $9k.

So is it worth to sell it, and buy a new one if/when I'll need second car?

Keep it. Find fun local roads and go for drives. Get into autocross and other fun events next season. Have fun with it. Working from home doesn't mean you're trapped at home.

I'm in the same boat but pandemic measures won't last forever. You'll probably want it when the situation starts to ease up and normalize. Then you'll have a paid off car you trust vs a new car payment or a used car with unknown issues.

I agree keep it. The money you have lost in depreciation is more than the remaining amount owing.

The 2015 is mine, the second one is a 2018 GT that my wife drives (as a "school bus" plus errands). I used the 2015 to commute to work, but I won't return to the office anytime soon, so I'm working from home until the Covid situation is over.

So 3 votes to keep it, thanks for the input! I'm still driving it on rural roads around Milton for fun
