    Default Repairing a bent rim

Anyone know how much it costs to repair (straighten) a bent rim? I hit a curb a few months back and if the rim can be straightened, it might be cheaper than purchasing a new one. I know it can be resurfaced.

is this an oem rim?....if it is, i would rather get a used one off of someone for slightly more if not the same amount that it would take to straighten and resurface it

Best known in the GTA with p/u and delivery.
check their price over a used OEM wheel or Dlrship wheel and see which will rape you less.

The cost to repair a bent rim might be the same if you purchased a NEW rim.

might be cheaper AND safer to get a new one.. if they heat the rim to straighten it that could cause weakening of the material, but i\'m no expert.

That\'s what I\'m hoping to do, but so far no one wants to sell just one rim, so it\'s been difficult. So far it looks like either repair the old one (which I\'m not sure I really want to do) or buy brand new.

Anyone heard of any junkyards with smashed 3\'s? I\'ll have to call around Hamilton and see if any of them over there have any.

Yeah! That\'s your next best bet. Flip through some yellow/white page listing at Junkyards.
The more highend ones have a data base of what is in their yards or what is wrecked out there and can even ship it closer to your. I\'ll try and dig up a list of GTA and surrounding area junkyards which was mentioned on my TORORNTO PROTEGE BOARD in a compiled list although our search engine sucks.

Off on a slight tangent - is it possible to fix a rim with a small hairline crack? Someone wanted to sell me a set where one had a small hairline crack. He says a shop can easily fix it for $40 by welding it - good as new. I say BS, but I ain\'t no engineer. Anyone have any info?

Personally have not had any experience with it, but even if it can be repaired \"as good as new\", that particular wheel would not be able to handle the same amount of stress as a non-repaired wheel. Considering the wheel/tire is the only point of contact on the ground, I would not put my safety in jeopardy to save a few bucks....

Another suggestion would be to buy the wheels, \"if it\'s a good price\", and see if you can replace the damaged one with a new one. It will still save you money... not as much, but I would feel a lot more comfortable with that.

    great list.....thanks demon....

hey dadd......fixing a rim isn\'t really feasible. It\'s possible to do as good as new, but no way for 50 bucks.....My wheel is slightly bent and i sent for a quote at wheelfix.com. This is the email they sent me back

\"Thanks for your quote request. The wheel is probably bent after the impact. Most likely centre bent which means it has twisted from the bolt face. We can fix that. It will be between $220 & $260 for the repair and refinish. If you are in the gta we do pick up and delivery Monday to Friday. After seeing your wheel at our shop we can call you with the exact price.\"

so in that case, it\'s better to buy a brand new rim at Mazda for $290.

    I have the same problem!

Hit a curb and bent the rim.
It's really bent it...the sound kicks in starting 65km/h

Mayhem did you had any success getting a used one?

    If yes... from where?

Or you end up buying brand new one from the dealership?

    Any feedback will be apreciated

Oh and www.carcone.com doesn't have them on stock ATM

    Cheers
